Justin Boyd’s brother in right? I think so. Macias in center. Batting right against a lefty? Didn’t know he was a switch hitter. Peterson at 3rd. Looks like he has added 20 pounds of muscle. One homer. Talk behind the plate. Reynolds pitching well since Lawson went out.
By the way, Donkey Forrester was just nicked for the Pirates minor league team. He is fine and enjoying pro ball.

Macias was a switch hitter in HS. Last year he decided to focus on one side but might be changing his mind.

Micah sat yesterday because he had a collision in practice earlier in the week with another player. Just precautionary to help the minor injuries heal.

JUst a couple more comments and it is a given that I am no expert.
I really like May. As I noted earlier, the Zag lefties got to him somewhat the first time through the order. The 2nd time, May dominated. I haven’t seen many pitchers shake off the wrist ban signs. May did just that the 2nd time through. I know coach wants his pitchers to work on specific aspects during the exhibitions, but it was like May said “screw that, this guy isn’t getting me a 2nd time.” One of the big lefties torched a May curveball the 4th time May threw it in the same place the first time up. The 2nd time up, May shook off the first sign and just blew the guy away with 3 fastballs. I like the competiveness.
In the second game, I fully expected Trosky to start at short and Forrester at 2nd. Totally wrong on my guess. Forrester has spent a whole lot of time working with Dernedde at short. Very decent back-up to Hainline. And after hearing what Dernedde got for going to Michigan, I would have jumped as well. After talking to a person who knows, Dernedde really is a class act and a fine mentor to younger players.

Good chunk of money not spent versus paying his own way to a large extent.

I have a hard time seeing anyone but McDowell playing the majority in center. 100%, he wasn't there today but he was great last season. Our batting order is scary. Even with the loss of Donkey & Kane we should have a 'masher' lineup this year. I have high expectations with this group going into 2024.
