both Ndong and Bilodeau played hockey growing up. Maybe we can start a club team and have two skaters taller than anyone in the NHL.

Ndong really impressed the three times I got to see pieces of practice. Thinking he could be the real surprise to opponents. But, realistically it's the returning wings/bigs that have to make the leap. They've been here, done that. Pope will be on everyone's radar. We need at least 3, preferably 4 to average dbl digits AND play solid D to finish in the top 6. Might be a tall order as almost every team is returning a solid roster or signed very solid players. A 8-12 Pac12 record would be an encouraging start.

An 8-12 league record going into the 10th year. That's encouraging? That would be a 40% winning percentage which is higher than his league winning percentage over 9 years so maybe you are right it's encouraging. Sad.

Sad. 8th/9th in conference relying on freshman and sophomores bodes well for the future. It's a start. We'd likely be in the top half of the conference the following year.

The dude isn't getting fired now, so you have to hope to start somewhere. With the crap NC schedule you'll not even be able to truly tell if OSU has improved. The SOS/RPI number going into Pac12 play will only be helped by the two invites. The jump into Pac12 play will be a stark difference. Linfield, Troy, App State, Nebraska(N), Baylor (N), FL/Pitt (N), UC Davis, Cal Poly, UTSA, Idaho St... (3) neutral site, the remaining are cupcakes in Gill. Do I think 8 Pac12 wins is a reality? Prob not. But, sh$t happens... injuries, etc. But, getting 8+ wins in preseason will mean little unless it is some w's over Baylor, FL, or Pitt???

That is a great take, 2nd in the two team conference! Unless were do the partnership schedule merge with the MWC, and we might not!

I was going on the basis of the current makeup of the conference or its equivalent. If the Pac 2 absorbed the MWC I’d expect even higher placement. If we go the independent route for a year or two there’s no telling what our schedule would look like at this point.

With the transfer portal and the way rosters turn over year to year now, projecting rosters into the future is speculative at best. There is no real assurance that anyone from last year's team will be on future teams.

Yeah the roster challenges will become more challenging if the powers that be at Oregon State don’t figure something out……how could anybody say yes to a program with literally zero stability from a “who are we gonna play” standpoint

They play Kansas State, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, and Wisconsin. Not great, not terrible. Oregon State would play a home-and-home with Wazzu, which would make things easier. Probably need to join West Coast Conference or Big West or something for a year or two before things settle.

When I played we would play Texas A&M Corpus Christi and they were independent. They came to our holiday tournament two years in a row and had a decent team but we beat them pretty handily…….I got to know a few of the guys and the thing the complained about was they never got to play at home, and when they did play at home nobody cared because none of the games really meant anything outside of you either won or lost that day with zero future ramifications.
