Skinny I heard Friday from a pretty solid source said the 2-team league for two years pan is gaining momentum if we prevail in court. To paraphrase the great Marv Levi, Nov. 14 is a must-win. Hopefully nobody circles the wagons like the Pac-2. That sounds like a nightmare for scheduling purposes, but if the AD's and Pres's think they can pull it off...well then more power to them. It may involve the proposed MWC partnership. It would solve 80%+ of most scheduling issues.

I think so too. Not for football but for everyone else, who plays more than 12 games.

As I understand it, the playoff invitees starting next year are the six highest ranked conference champions and then the next six highest ranked teams. So if the Pac-2 is a conference, the winner would have to be ranked higher than all but one of the Group of 5 champions. It's possible this year that both WSU and OSU would meet that. But the problem is the highest ranked is decided in a smoke-filled room with Fox and ESPN having a big voice. Yeah, I believe the "highest rankings"... 6 top conference champs, next 6 highest ranked overall... are CFP polls. WSU & OSU would have to have very good schedules and win 10+ in the regular season to ever get in the top 12 of the CFP and past the bias of a two-team conference. The CFP could easily find two G5 Champs to rank higher. Then the next 6 invitees will be a combo of the four P4 teams... maybe 2 more from B10 & SEC, 1 extra from B10 & ACC. But, other than the CFP it's a positive. And, really... how many invites do we honestly think OSU receives in any conference?? Easily find 2 G5 Champs to rank higher? Right now the only G5 school outranking either WSU or OSU, is nobody. Fresno is the only G5 school currently ranked. Last year Tulane was highly ranked and would have taken a conference champ spot. If it was just next years P4 and the Pac 2 last year, OSU would have taken that 6th Conference champ spot. It might not be that easy to find 2 G5 champs ranked above OSU or WSU next year. The big wildcard is Notre Dame. They're independent, would they be treated as a Conference champ? This year, being highly ranked, if playoff teams were picked today they'd be in. But what happens if they finish 19th? Would they bump a lower ranked top G5 or Pac 2 "champ"? I wouldn't call it easy.

But what happens if they finish 19th? Would they bump a lower ranked top G5 or Pac 2 "champ"? I wouldn't call it easy. "Easy"... as in it's the CFP committee and the Pac2 has no membership or member (last I looked?) that would favor a two team conference champ over a solid 10+ win G5 champ. It's why I mentioned the schedule and winning 11 games. The Pac2 would have to make it impossible for the committee to ignore them. I'll stand by my "easy" as the CFP committee sets their own agenda and rules when setting that poll. It's basically a bias setup and only expanded to include more SEC & B10 teams. They want to change the current format away from conference champs to the 6 highest ranked teams for that reason. And, in football to give byes to any team(s) is BS. The physical nature of the game, playing one extra to the play a top 4 seed in college football is BS. If they're so good they can play the same # of games. It's 8 or 16 teams or it's basically a setup. As it is just about more $ anyway.
