Like others, I wouldn't expect a real answer, just a lot of tap dancing. But I'd ask him how he could justify to all the people across the state of Oregon demolishing over 100 years of tradition. Without Oregon State playing Simon to their Garfunkel, how does he expect to maintain fan interest outside the alumni base. This year, I follow them because they're part of the conference I've followed for 54 years. Next year, they might as well be Rutgers for all I'll care. Interesting take. That fan interest is basically gauged with one school playing another. Yeah. There's people all across the state who grew up with UO v OSU being a big, big deal. Maybe they never went to college and, generally, have only a limited interest in it. But they always watch the Beavs play the Ducks, and root for 'their team.' Now that's gone - and so are they.

A ton of folks know that game... ONLY. Have no rooting interest in college ball except for CW play.

If that's the case, then they aren't that bright. Streaming is the future and regional travel is so much less expensive and more accommodating to the athletes... In O's case it clearly looks to have boiled down to an ego thing. W on the other hand is in a financial dire straights and panicked. O without their manufactured rivalry with W is what? This is one thing I really respect about the SEC. They may be fierce competitors on the field. Their administrations, students, and fans may absolutely loath one another. BUT they all get one thing and execute it to perfection. They stand firm with locked arms and do not waiver on supporting one another. Strength in numbers and fully united. They get the power that gives each individual member and the whole. What other conference cheers the conference name. Sure partly because S E C rolls off the tongue easier than some of the other conference acronyms but also because they just get it. Streaming only wants the big matchups and wants east coast eyeballs, so I think the teams that went to the B1G are plenty bright. Look at the potential eyeball matchups now in the B1G (Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn State, USC, UCLA, uo, Washington, Iowa). That right there is a season worth of huge potential matchups, matchups that will have interest now on the east coast and the west coast (and of course any other team in the B1G that strings 7 or 8 wins becomes a big matchup at the end of the season). The old pac12 really can not compete with that potential slate for a season of big games. The B1G is in a great spot to take advantage of Streaming when their current media rights deals expire in 2030. Now for the teams that went ACC and Big 12, yes I could see them having regrets fairly quickly. I won't respond to your claim on streaming as others already have adequately. Maybe you missed this part of it, O and W were not invited as full members. They were offered and accepted a reduced, lower membership status for the next 7 years. Scheduling and timeslots may not be so friendly to them as they are in the PAC where they received preferential treatment. So I'm failing to see how they benefit financially from increased eyeballs, IF that even happens how do they benefit under their current lower membership status? What about the increased expense and travel? With the 9 team PAC going into the Friday morning streaming deal with Apple, there would be only 8 conference games freeing up 4 opportunities for O or W to go schedule the teams you listed in OOC play and then actually capitalize as full members on any increased interest as the Apple deal rewarded that very thing. O and W declined. I'm not sure what you mean by "the old Pac 12", but I'd say we're taking a backseat to nobody on actual (not potential) big matchups this season with all the "old pac 12" teams. If you meant, we don't have the population in the P12 footprint to rival the potential eyeballs, that's a different argument.
