Clearly IF they were to go this route, they would get deals in place with the MWC, WCC, etc. to fill out those schedules. As far as the TV deal, they could maybe work something out with Apple or another streaming service for two years I don't think they are actually going to try to do it. I can't imagine any streaming service making the investment it would take to broadcast the "minor" sports without football programming. I could not imagine a streaming service making the investment to stream football and the rest for just two years with ANY full conference, much less just two small market teams. People dont quite get it. If Apple were to invest in starting a streaming service, it VERY likely will not cost them 7 times as much to stream 14 teams worth of games than to stream 2 teams worth of games. Economy of scale... the initial prototype/run generally costs multiples of the later units. No, the TV deal would be for football alone. The deals in place with the MWC and/or WCC would be to fill out the "minor" sports schedules.

We have some very smart people in our corner. WSU appears to be an excellent ally, the prez and AD were well-spoken and informed. Our president is smart as a whip but is hamstrung somewhat in news conferences, etc., by English not being her native language. My big takeaway was Barnes concentrating on the "wellness of the student-athlete" topic and how much he stressed regional competition as being the preferred choice. I am glad to hear this. I don't want us playing some far-flung combination of schools in states two or three time zones away. Sounds as if we will be playing Oregon and WSU will be playing Washington in the future, after hearing both ADs say that you can't use emotion when making a business decision. I was disappointed that neither insisted the only way this competition would continue was as equal competitors, home-and-home, one-for-one. Mr. Chung forgot (when asked about what he's learned about OSU) that we are also a sun grant university. Land, sea, space and sun, along with Cornell. I feel like this is also a business decision, to not allow an unbalanced relationship to exist between the two schools. 10 years from now when Oregon is trying to re-join a West Coast-based conference or region, we will revisit a lot of these conversations. 10 years? I give in 5 years...or less....Fans, boosters, parents. athletes...will say WTF are we doing traveling half way (or more) across the country where we can do our thing in our own time zone or time zone +/- 1 hour? Streaming is/will re-define the media model.

They will be getting nearly 40 million in 29/30 and they will get a full share in 30/31. If streaming is the future, at that time the b1g will sign their grant of rights with streaming included. By then uo might be making 80 to 120 million a year more then the west coast conference teams. They are not coming back, time zones and population demographics won’t allow it.

Circumstances can change quickly...espeiclly if money is involved...GORs can get upended by pressure that the fan bases can apply.....No telling what will happen in the next years...Stay tuned
