Today's Washington vs Michigan State game could indicate some of the current status of streaming for college football.
It's available only on Peacock, which in July had the 8th most streaming viewers (right behind Tubi, which I am unfamiliar with).
It will be curious to see how viewing numbers compare between them and other providers.
#9 Notre Dame vs Central Michigan is another Peacock only game.

Got ahead of myself, wasn't paying attention. I'm not real good with the calendar these days. I worked 7 days a week with fluctuating schedules for decades. Now that I'm not, every day is a weekend day anymore.

I think that streaming is a viable option that would let us have a fair shot at getting the revenues that the Pac-12 provided. Am I sure about that? No, but it's probably better than the share cropper bracket that ESPN would put us in.

I know it’s Michigan State handling the broadcasting, but it’s interesting that Washington is involved in a streaming only game. What with streaming being too small time for them.

I researched Peacock a bit, they have different levels of viewing, including free. Several platforms have it as a free option - including Samsung TV. Thankfully, I will be at Reser on Saturday, so I don't have to worry about it - lol

Well, this is an opportunity to answer one question I had. I've always appreciated the fact that the ESPN college football scores page on their website shows who is carrying the game (which is good of them, considering that the other carriers are competitors of ESPN). I just went and looked at the score page for the Pac-12 games for this weekend on espn.com. For the UW game it says "Peacock". So, now I know that they will list streaming-only coverage too.

Like I did for ESPN+ during the college WS tourney....You have to pay for the whole month....i am pretty certain lots of people do just that...and eventually the providers will make it harder to do... If puppies and sparties were on ESPN, FOX, etc...i would watch tonight...but not spending $6 on Peacock to do so...

Here lies the problem with streaming..Say I want to watch the Washington vs Michigan State game...gotta pay for Peacock..then next week I want to watch Team A vs Team B but it is only on Stream C...snd on and on... The way I look at it, had the Apple deal gone through, every Pac conference game and home OOC game likely would have been on that streaming channel. That is 1 service, 1 payment. Most other games would have been on more traditional TV for the next 2-6 years or more because of existing media contracts. There's no telling if Apple may or may not have cut a deal with other services to show or have delay showings of the OOC away games, but they likely will be available elsewhere if I haven't cancelled everything else. My suspicion is that, if the streaming is working for Apple, Apple will be competing for more and more media contracts as existing ones expire. Apple has the technological and financial advantage to win those future contracts. Apple could pick up the bulk of the important ones. I would have happily purchased the Pac subscription channel, kept the stuff I already have, and seen everything. It still would be cheaper, or at least no more expensive, than the cable bill my wife and I were paying 3 years ago. I don't know if cable has come down in price for existing customers since then, we dropped them in favor of streaming because they wouldn't cut prices at the time. At the time we had cable for internet and tv we did not have a basic package, we had to upgrade it significantly just to get the Pac-12 channel. We were paying a pile of money, and just keeping cable for internet and signing up for either SLING or FUBO (we've used both, prefer FUBO) got us everything we watched before and saved a lot of money. We could afford a few extra streaming options at that point and still saved money. I think you may have mentioned something earlier about having a dial up connection, how are you watching non-over the air games now?

Yeah. Last year, I signed up for ESPN+ so I could watch Kraken hockey games (We do not have cable/satellite at home). I get that we live in their broadcast area, so I did not expect to see the games live. But they took the extra fun step of not broadcasting Kraken games in any form, either live or later. Who does that? That is exceedingly stupid. I dropped them like a hot rock.
