Not much new info in thy article other than in how the author spun it. Still a lot of “what ifs” with that approach.

I’ve heard numerous places where they have talked about football breaking away from the rest of the athletic department at the national level. Obviously regardless of title 9 or not,it’s being discussed as a possibility. Too,today they discussed having football being a national sport in the future, and the non revenue sports being regional sports. I could see that happening in 6-7 years. Osu and WSU isn’t stalling. They just don’t know what assets they possess as the final 2 members of the Pac-12. Once they know what the final two teams have in assets financially, then they can proceed forward. Both Roxie Bernstein and Jon Wilner were on the JoeBeaver show discussing it an hour ago. Even if osu is not part of a power 5 conference,Wilner thinks osu could make the play-offs easier than uo or UW could being part of the Big 10.This is the part that still remains baffling to me. OK, lets grant to u of ho and the puppies that they will make more media money in the next 6 years... They will pretty much NEVER have access to the playoffs, even the expanded format. Do they really think they will be winning the Big 10 championship? If anything the schools moving to the Big12 make more sense, at least that field is winnable! Especially when Texas and Oklahoma leaving, Utah is probably the immediate best team in the conference. Especially with all the bluster from the *uck AD about playoff access being the most important thing, smfh.

Especially when Texas and Oklahoma leaving, Utah is probably the immediate best team in the conference. Especially with all the bluster from the *uck AD about playoff access being the most important thing, smfh. For sure the Big 12 made more sense for the four Pac-12 schools. As I posted earlier, I believe their decisions were driven by panic and the need to find a more stable situation. UO and UW jumped in due to money but I think a big reason is program image and their perception that the Big Ten keeps them on the national stage to a higher degree. Arrogance allows them to gloss over the very real possibility that their programs will be also-rans when competing against Michigan and Ohio State. It will be hard enough for them to deal with programs like Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Iowa. Although I assume they will be in the West Division, which makes the road to the title game much easier, but not winning it. No West Division team has won it since the conference switched to those divisions in 2014. Wisconsin (now in the West) won back-to-back titles in 2011 and 2012 as a member of the Leaders Division.
