Real question here. Just how long do you all think the beavers have to make a plan of action for it's sporting future before we see student athletes and coaches run for the exit?
So many posts on here with 1-2 year timelines for resolution seem to forget any student athletes with true D1 talent can make $$$ anywhere else. A kid with real talent might want the basic perks they expected including opportunities to play solid opponents.
So is the deadline before the Utah game because if we loose that game teammates might start going for the transfer portal ? Can we afford to wait for a bowl game or the civil war to announce a plan ?
I personally think we need to have an idea of the direction we're going ASAP because we don't have time to just wait. Sucks but when usc and UCLA announced leaving our AD and President failed all of us by not having any back up plan. We should have had a dozen. We should have appealed to the ducks to make a plan to leave together. We should have done so much more but I'm sure our AD getting paid huge $$$ and our president collecting that $$$$ and future pension they earned it. They earned all of it...

I understand that Utah game is MASSIVE, but what is the purpose or benefit of bailing mid season? Not sure what the portal rules or time periods are, but what is the upside? You have a team, you have a plan and you have a legitimate shot of accomplishing something special that you have worked hard for right here. If you want to look elsewhere, you can do so after the season and it still affords you all of the options, plus Spring and Fall ball to acclimate. You leave mid season, you're done with football until Spring anyway

If a player here is being offered $$$ to play elsewhere for NIL that requires they be healthy. Now trying to pull off the unexpected at OSU and run the table make a pac 12 championship and beyond. That's worth any risk anyone with an ego would see that as a huge pump. Maybe 1 loss to Utah doesn't hurt the chances as much but it might easily make someone reconsider a future payday. I wish it wasn't just about $$ but that's what it's been since usc and UCLA left. To be fair the first teams that left got the best deals that would be true for the student athletes too or at least it would be incredibly easy to sell that.

I don't worry about things that are 100% outside of my control. This is one of them. Whatever happens, happens and I don't expect to lose 1 nanosecond of sleep over it.

We do more with NIL than people understand, by the way. The players that would be vulnerable to that kind of enticement (at least as of today) are very happy and are being supported. Our players are all in right now, but I don't disagree that that could change after the season. We need a magic run...

People keep missing the true bottom line. Nobody wanted us. Not the Big Ten. Not the Big 12. Not the ACC. Nobody. And plan all you want but there is not one darn thing anyone could have done about it. We (and Wazzu) aren't attractive enough to be anything other than the 11th and 12th choices in our league. Oregon was not gonna turn down a Big Ten (or Big 12) invitation if they wouldn't also take us. Not in a million years. To think otherwise, that they would even consider our interests in their future plans, is incredibly naive. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US. Those athletes who are happy here will remain here. Anyone else, they can leave. We will have some kind of an agreement with the MWC by November 1, I would think, so the planning process for 2024-25 can begin. Then we can all get on with our lives and find something else to be unhappy about.
