In the next few weeks we are going to be shown a first graders finger painting and be told it's a Rembrandt and we are going to be forced to like it.

Honestly, I would expect Pac12 rebuild news to start coming in fairly soon. Barnes, Luck and the rest have already been working in the background. In order to hold onto coaches, players and recruits, we will need to act quickly.
I know that sounds like a pipe dream, considering how slowly the conference responded to a renegotiated media deal, I now think we will know and have some clarity well before the 1st of October, maybe even before our first home game. We shall see. I still think we can use all of this debauchery and irresponsibility to our advantage - long term.

well short of strong arming the b12 to pick up OSU and WSU it seems our only move is with the MWC. Hopefully known as the PAC-x Conference rather than the MWC.
As said in a different thread, it could be lucrative for 'lesser' sports....athletes won't have to travel cross-country and parents can reasonably see their kids play close to home...
Loss of media money is gonna be a big whammy

It’s nice to finally have resolution on this. I keep going to this board every couple of awake hours - seeing if there is any news… It is not the result I wanted, but was obviously one that looked most probable. Really hate the end of the article where they say “Stanford and Cal were the last bits of the Pac-12 that had any value”; in other words OSU and WSU absolutely no media value… I suppose we have less nationwide media value but still is hard to take for someone that would rather watch a Beaver game than anything else. Well, onward… Barnes obviously new what was likely coming, as some of you point out. A bunch of things he could not control. Now we get to see what they can put together and where we go. Be more value after we win football and baseball championships this year =)

Honestly, probably good that they went to the ACC. It makes our efforts a lot easier, since furd and Kal are so stupidly stuck up. We’ll be fine.

In the next few weeks we are going to be shown a first graders finger painting and be told it's a Rembrandt and we are going to be forced to like it. That's just stupid. Nobody is going to even try to make you believe the MWC is the equivalent to the Pac-12. But at some point you have to accept reality and make the best of an awful situtation. And the best option right now is some kind of arrangement with the MWC, a group of public universities in adjoining states with similar academic profiles (for the most part) who - unlike the Big 12, Big Ten and ACC - actually want us and would value our membership.

It was a no brainer. Stanford and Cal going in without asking for any money. It was also stupid because this realignment is not over. They could be looking for another home in a few years.

Stanford and Cal did not go in without asking for any money. That was only SMU. However, it’s being reported that they are going to only get around 30% of what the other ACC teams are getting. Not sure how that pencils out for Cal.

In the next few weeks we are going to be shown a first graders finger painting and be told it's a Rembrandt and we are going to be forced to like it. When I first read this I thought you wrote something about a first grader giving a finger,,,
Fixed:
"In the next few weeks we are going to be shown a first grader giving a finger and be told it's all cool and we are going to be forced to like it."

I could see both scenarios happening, lol
