Well that is just sucky news to start the football season. I told everyone when all three (Cal, WSU, Furd) were meeting with Barnes that CAL and Furd were working on other options during those meeting breaks. There was no good faith discussions.
I am beginning to think Barnes is not the sharpest guy running things because he got hood winked yet again. Screw them all. All ten are sell outs. This is not good in any form.

They met really early. Didn't expect that but did expect one school would eventually flip. Odds were good one school would. Cal will add to their deficit. Stanford I think will have issues down the road in my opinion.

Apparently Stanford and Cal aren't as smart as they claim to be.

You’re blaming Barnes for this? He has had zero control over this. He’s doing everything that he can.

Whatever agreements are made in the near future have to be short term and no buyouts.

Barnes already knew this was a possibility, so he hardly got hoodwinked. I would guess that he was already working on the premise that it would happen.

They let Larry Scott run wild and anyone one of the 24 could have said "Hey. wait a minute" That was the start of the conference downfall. So in a sense he had no control now (that we agree on I guess) but he could have been a whistle blower, the Ad's were walking around fat dumb and happy. Never did trust Stanford in all the recent discussions with their delay tactics. Cal was just tagging along. The CAL board posters all seem happy this AM.

They are who Scott and George K worked for, not the AD’s.

KIngs of the North!!!!
The only bright side is we didn't really know about the P12 assets before all this. We will have a nice chunk to work out a merger and it puts us in a power position in whatever that conference is called.
Basketball is going to be a lot more fun to watch.

It is likely good news for WT as even if they want to get rid of him there probably is not enough money available to do it.

It’s nice to finally have resolution on this. I keep going to this board every couple of awake hours - seeing if there is any news… It is not the result I wanted, but was obviously one that looked most probable.
Really hate the end of the article where they say “Stanford and Cal were the last bits of the Pac-12 that had any value”; in other words OSU and WSU absolutely no media value… I suppose we have less nationwide media value but still is hard to take for someone that would rather watch a Beaver game than anything else.
Well, onward… Barnes obviously new what was likely coming, as some of you point out. A bunch of things he could not control. Now we get to see what they can put together and where we go.
