Not sure that means much when they’re already down 29. That's one way to look at it. But PSU gaining 100 yards on the ground shows that Hole has the same sort of priorities--score a lot and stop the passing game. I think it's a great recipe against most teams. Teams with a strong running game will be able to devise a game plan to beat them.
PSU basically had one good drive. Their fast, running QB caught Oregon off guard a few times and gained a lot of yards on the ground on that drive. They got stuffed the entire rest of the game. Hard to know how much it means either way. Next week will be a much more telling test.

I don’t think it will be tested until they hit the Beavs and the Big Ten. There are a lot of good QBs in the pac, but not many teams with a physical ground game.

I’ll wait and see how they do against Texas Tech. You’re sounding like CarlosDanger, who is either a platypus at best.

That game didn't really say anything except it was an extreme mismatch in talent and speed. If you are mostly running and have 8 possessions before half you probably can get 100 yards.

If you kept it up for the second half you'd have 200 yds rushing for the game. Against a team of Oregon's talent level, if you're PSU, that would be more than respectable. As it was, they got 150 and passed for 50 (round numbers). Really couldn't pass at all, averaging 2 yds something/attempt. 4yds/attempt rushing.

I think Phil Knight himself was playing LB in the second half. Him and the 4 water boys were on the field in the 2nd half.

It would be like getting really hot about XU today. Sure they had 510 passing yards but it was on 47 attempts. They had 87 yards on the ground (if you take out the 5 sacks for -32) on 29 attempts. They also gave up 279 in the air and 262 on the ground...so yeah they can pass but maybe TCU just sucks in coverage this year. It's week 1 so don't get too excited about predictions based so little info!
The ducks had a fun day against a big mismatch. Shaduer probably just had his best game at CU.

But the weakness was exposed in the first quarter against a much weaker team. I'm pretty sure that no one expected PSU to have 100 yards on the ground in the first quarter, especially not the Ducks. The fact that they made adjustments to shut it down means they did what was necessary against a weak team. Ho hum. The fact that the weakness was exposed is interesting to me as it brings up questions. Can they stop a more proficient ground attack? What about a more balanced attack?
It's the weakness that I would look to exploit if I were part of the opposing coaching staff.

So if uo played army and won by 74, you’d be questioning their run D when they’d given up 300 yds rushing? The only stat that matters is points. I doubt uo defense was playing very inspired today knowing they were going to kill PSU.

I has been an interesting game to this point, We will see if it holds.

If they did pull Nix was their backups as effective?
