I don't see any correlation. The hospital is a not-for-profit facility that is losing $2 million a year. The ducks are an ego driven entity where money doesn't matter because their owner has deep pockets. The media money was just an excuse to leave the Pac-12 because they honestly believe they can compete with the big boys. We shall see.

When the big one hits, hopefully those bridges over the Willamette River hold, because there are no hospitals west of the Willamette in that area.

Speaking as someone who's been in the Eugene hospital many times, (I was born there in 1953), if the big one hits, the hospital building will probably collapse before the bridges do. It's only redeeming feature is its proximity to the uo campus, (it's a block away) but it could be mostly replaced by a 24 hour urgent care facility and an STD clinic.
