I really liked this article that appeared in the Idaho Statesman: www.idahostatesman.com/opinion/readers-opinion/article278345379.htmlThe point this opinion piece (from a former WSU student body president) makes is that the Washington state and Oregon state taxpayers helped fund the state schools' involvement in the Pac-12, which enhanced the "collective credibility" of UW/uo/OSU/WSU. And by departing for greener pastures, they betrayed state investments made in Higher Education and damaged WSU/OSU. I have to admit there is "gilt by association" playing in the Pac-12, and that was somewhat underwritten by state funds. Water under the bridge, I know, but I do like the way this opinion piece made the case. Go Beavers!

I think the state has a vested interest in protecting both of the state universities.

I was on the fence, but the additional two uses of 'opinion' in the body of the post convinced me that this was most likely an opinion piece.

So let me get this straight......this is an opinion piece, right? Nowadays, most journalism is opinion. They days of straight factual news are pretty much gone.
