The dissolution of the PAC seemed weird from the start...(1) USC surprisingly hires Mike Bonn as AD-- Bonn has strong BIG10 ties; (2) Bonn relatively quickly thereafter vetoes an arrangement which would have brought UTexas and UOklahoma in to the PAC. Their addition would have greatly strengthened the PAC; (3) not long afterward Bonn completes a clandestine deal for USC to join the BIG10. Moreover, UCLA joins Bonn and USC in fleeing to the BIG10, in spite of considerable opposition across the UCLA campus to the move. No explanation has ever been made public about what coerced or convinced UCLA to go along with Bonn; (4) surprisingly, UW then contributes mightily to the final destruction of the PAC by also joining the BIG10, BUT the UW AD immediately then takes over as AD at USC. Maybe there is nothing particularly bizarre about all this...$$$ was there and USC and others took it. However, it strikes me that this all actually stinks on ice....a scenario could be constructed where Bonn was a BIG10 ringer whose purpose from the start was always to do everything he could to hurt the PAC with a view toward strengthening the BIG10. Once he managed to pry USC loose from the PAC, the TV money available to others sealed the PAC's fate. I would love to see some sort of congressional investigation into this whole mess. That wouldn't change much, but it would be nice to know the truth. What were Bohn's Big10 ties? I don't see any in his resume. He never worked, played or coached at any Big10 university. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Bohn

Oregon's Representatives are graduates of California, Eastern Oregon, Emmanuel College, Fresno State, Harvard, and Oregon. Washington has Dan Newhouse, who is a Wazzu graduate. He is on the Appropriations Committee, as well. He might have some pull, as well. I don't think that either is on a subcommittee that would be helpful in this situation.

Could part of the reason she is leaving is because of Washington's athletic department financial issues? If you dig around enough on the internet you can see the puppies are hurting.

More specifically, Mike Bohn was/is little more than a ventriloquist's dummy for Neinas, who, for example, was largely responsible for Bohn's landing the USC AD slot and who was, also instrumental in Nebraska's departure from the Big12 and joining the Big10. Neinas was also active behind the scenes in Colorados recent departure from the PAC. I say again... Bohn's hiring procedure at USC was highly suspicious from the start, and as AD there, he was little more than a figurehead and useful idiot for the BIG10 and Neinas. The BIG10/Neinas fix was in from the start, and the PAC was too slow and stupid to react in a timely manner.

Fox drove the move with money to B1G and that lured USC and UCLA away from the Pac12.

There's also some speculation FOX agreed to the addition of uo and UW to help tank the possibility of Apple getting in the college football biz for a few more years.

Thanks for clarifying.

Thanks for clarifying. Well, that's your opinion. Mine is based on Bohn's obvious and chronic, vassal-like relationship to Neinas and Neinas' extended history of behind the scenes manipulation within the CFB sphere. Finally, If you really believe that Bohn's original hiring process at USC wasn't, to say the least, bizarre. Or that Bohn's departure from SC shortly after that school had surreptitiously managed to pull out of the PAC was just a coincidence. Or that Neinas hasn't been instrumental in other schools joining the BIG10. Or that UCLA's leaving the conference was just fine and dandy with most everyone at that school, well then you're a whole lot more naive than you pretend to be. PS -- I would love to know if Neinas had any communication with UW's AD (now [just coincidentally???!!!!] SC's AD, of course) about the time UW and UO pulled out of the PAC.
