I think the Pac-4 should consider adding teams from the Mid-American Conference as well. Call it the Pac-Mac-Aac. "Pakmakak attack!"

If I were Apple with a nationwide conference I'd request everbody play at the best time for each school. If they all choose the same start time, it doesn't matter with streaming. If it were early in the day, Apple could in theory tie up an entire day worth of eyeballs. If I were Apple on that kind of plan, I would try to lock up every G5 conference to some extent and encourage regionality. Let the conferences decide the game times. That's actually a great call. Not sure what the other conferences' media rights deal entails...but rifgt now Fox and ESPN are tapped out. There is an opportunity to really build a large consumer base at a relatively cheap cost...offering conferences a larger peice of they pie with incentive-based streaming sunscribers

What remains of the PAC is ripe for the plucking because our media deal ends after this year. They’d have to wait a couple years longer for the MWC. Dissolve another conference to join the PAC is Apple’s best shot to get in early if it is ready to go.

Dissolve another conference to join the PAC is Apple’s best shot to get in early if it is ready to go. I think the AAC is signed through the early 2030's and the MWC ends in 2025. I think that a lot of people, when discussing conference media deals that are heavy on "streaming," take "streaming" to mean that games appear on only one platform, like Apple TV, where you may only be able to get it on one streaming site, as opposed to the Pac 12 Networks, which streams on multiple platforms. So the biggest criticism people have with one-platform streaming is that there is no accessibility from the casual fan, i.e., they can't flip from watching Ohio St. vs. Illinois on ESPN to watching SDSU vs. BSU on Apple TV by just pushing a button or two. If Apple could lock up the entire G5 (I think we're a part of that now), casual fans, at least from the G5, will be able to switch conferences on Apple and thus people watching Memphis vs. SMU can switch back and forth between that and Fresno State vs. Colorado State. I think that is one way to stay relevant as we enter a lower league.

So if Apple came to to the table with a business plan with substantially higher payouts, that veey well could happen.

So if Apple came to to the table with a business plan with substantially higher payouts, that veey well could happen. Apple would probably literally have to approach teams or conferences and try to get them to dissolve conferences. I'm not sure that would fly, probably would lead to tampering lawsuits filed by the companies that already have media deals. I consider the current media companies to have kinda tampered in what is going on, but what they did was negotiate expansion with conferences they already had deals with... it kinda adds a buffer level in tampering accusations. I like the idea of them locking up the G5 conferences, but most if not all, have media deals already. I don't see conferences dissolving in hopes to get Apple deals. I guess they could negotiate with the Pac to rebuild a 16/18 team conference, then once it pans out and everyone is making money, suggest the PAC add say 40-60 teams, form multiple divisions, and agree to offer the PAC enough money to cut expansion teams the same $$ (or whatever terms the PAC wants to give expansion teams)... there would be conferences dissolving to join the Pac directly, but Apple wouldn't be negotiating with individual teams or conferences with existing media deals. Essentially that is what other media companies are doing. The 8 PAC teams that just left were deaing with conferences, not media companies.

This thread is about 4 AAC trams joining the Pac 4. It evolved into more teams from both AAC and MWC. So what you are saying in your last paragraph was my initial point. The Pac 4...or even the Pac 2 should partner (for lack of better word) to create some sort of media package first so teams that would consider jumping ship to join the Pac know what their options are. Then, as media deals end conferences implode, Apple/Pac or whatever it is called can pick and choose. Obviously I'm just trying to think outside the box of the "conference" mindset. Let's be real, right now Fox and ESPN are the conferences. The landscape is going to keep changing, Apple, and for that matter Oregon State, has an opportunity to help dictate that future that benefits both monetarily, far better than joining the MWC

That's pretty much how things go in the world......college football is a perfect example of this.
