So as far as the number of current Apple subscribers and Apple+'s reach goes... there have been rumors of Apple purchasing Disney for a while now and all parties have denied it. I saw a youtube video yesterday (they tend to be mostly wrong, but often contain a grain of truth later on) that Iger (Disney CEO) was asked flat out in the last day or so if Apple was buying them and he didn't say no, or yes, but gave a generalization about either looking for partnerships or divestment of some parts of Disney, without mentioning Apple.
If Apple, who is looking for content, buys Disney+ or even gets the rights for negotiated use of a good chunk of its content catalog, that's kinda a big deal that could increase Apple + reach.

Time will tell but I think schools that ran away are going to mourn the day they didn't negotiate with and then sign with apple.

I think whoregon left for ego. They couldn't stand that USC and UCLA got a shiny new object and they did not. I've not followed the numbers (dollars) like some here have, but I think they rationalize the numbers by thinking in six or eight years they will be getting more. Washington has stated they were committed to the Pacific Athletic Conference if tsdtr was. And add the fact that their senior administrators are midwesterners and thought it would be cool to go back to Chicago and Detroit 30 times a year (all sports).

When I was a kid I went to a fair saw the game where you toss 3 metal rings at a quart soda bottle for a quarter and land it on top you get to keep the soda. $4 later I had a soda I probably could have bought for 35-50 cents (early '70s). This is sort of like that. uo wanted it so bad they took a partial cut and potentially could have well surpassed that over time just by saying yes to the deal in front of them here. They probably should have stayed.

Especially with a new indoor practice facility and another stadium expansion? It absolutely had nothing to do with money, just brand building.
Hell, If Knight wanted the pac-12 to stay together he could have payed each of the remaining 10 schools 20 million each year for a total of 200 million (still had an apple deal added to that 20 million) and did it for a 10 year stretch and spend only 2 billion of his 46 billion. They are not hurting in the least like some think they are. I expect them to purchase a private jet soon.

I think uo could have some buyers remorse unless the get really favorable scheduling. If they finish 4th or 5th in hhe conference a few times the image could lose a little shine, same with basketball.

"other universities" = who? My guess, hole and UW. The same wannabe, 2nd rate beauty queens that skated at 11:59. And folks here still want to schedule these d!(%holes. At some point it stops being an emotional response, and becomes our best self interest to not associate with organizations that screw us over at every turn. At all. Ever. No, I believe that is why the four teams left. Equal shares meant that they were not getting compensated for what they are worth. Equal shares for unequal contribution never works, unless you already have a monopoly. It's what should be happening for public universities though.
