The Wazzu prez said like 3 prez's were the ones who came back with the $50ish mill.....I wonder who they were? Was that negotiation before usc and UCla bailed? No, it was after the LA schools left The 50+ mill valuation seems reasonable with the LA schools......without them, I agree with the Wazzu prez......they really overplayed their hand, and should've known better. That said, maybe they did it on purpose, cuz this is wanted they wanted all along. Why did the LA schools feel the need to leave, and blow the conference up??.....greed, and lack of foresite......I understand no confidence in Pac 12 leadership, but to set this in motion shows USC's complete lack of self awareness.....no value placed on tradition. I think it's a panic move to try and keep up with jones' that will ultimately bite them in the ass.

There is a lot leading up to the situation today. Pac turned down 30 mil last year. Pac turned down an offer from ESPN to take over the pac 12 network distribution and a long term partnership on tier one rights. That was three years ago. Last media rights deal was for twelve years. A shorter term deal and the Pac wouldn't be in the situation it is now. Mis management of the network that led the Pac owing money back to a media partner. Except for the offer last year, the others happened under Scott's watch.
Kliavkoff was doomed to fail. Climate changed and media changed their offers. Kliavkoff didn't have complete power to make decisions or the deal last year would probably have been accepted. He is the face of the Pac 12 and takes the brunt of the blame. Meanwhile the bosses, some of the Presidents, stayed in the shadows and destroyed the Pac 12. Kliavkoff had no chance in my opinion, considering how some of the Presidents saw it.

I'm seeing on FB that Oliver Luck is pushing to merge the Pac 4 with the AAC......what a geographical nightmare that would be!

I'm seeing on FB that Oliver Luck is pushing to merge the Pac 4 with the AAC......what a geographical nightmare that would be! some of the other conferences are facing the same problems as teams have changed... I am seeing the concept of travel pods being created in order to alleviate some nightmare traveling for teams. I can see the 4 Western schools in a pod playing each other and 4 midwest/eastern schools in a pod playing each other with 2-3 crossovers that limit the travel to 1-2 long distance travel dates. For other sports, they will need to create pods where several teams travel to one site in order to play 2-4 games over a Fri-Sun weekend. it should have been an option already being talked about for those sports that have a very long season with a lot of dates on the calendar.

Seems to me, in general, the AAC is the East Coast equivalent of the MWC.......which means they have access to more resources, talent, etc....is that about the gist? The longer this goes on, the more Im in line with MW merger....keep it regional.....get in front of streaming (Apple, etc). Chasing more money to merge with the SEC jr essentially......meh

Yea you would kinda have to do this, especially in non-football sports ....also, reeeeeally long road trips like the do in say the NBA?? Should student athletes have to do that consistently? I don't think so.

Best of the AAC, best of the MW, PAC-4 all rolled into two divisions, one conference.

That is something to build on, if nothing else.
