Getting more pissed off than I ever have been at duck fans. So many ridiculing comments everywhere, kicking us when we're down. After the big Reser press tour, journalists dutifully write up a nice report, and all that follows are jokes about being an MWC stadium. Seeing a big resurgence of the 'little brother' nomenclature as well.
What kills me is that those dimwits seem to be treating this like just another game, like they can gloat as lightheartedly if they won the civil war this year.
But then I realize - they did win the civil war. The final one, the one that matters. And we lost. There will be no rematch. No 'wait til next year'. With one stroke of the pen, they established their dominance and shoveled the first pile of dirt on us.
They won the state of Oregon. The metro Portland area. All our eyeballs. To the victor go the spoils. The state of Oregon now has one major-conference college football team, and it ain't us.
Take 100 Civil War game losses and add up all the remorse and frustration and bitterness that would come from those losses, and it doesn't hit even a fraction of the anger and raw emotion I feel from this devastating loss. We really are a little brother now to those motherf*ckers.
I can't take any ribbing for this. There is no good natured rivalry here, only one rival dealing a merciless death blow to the other. My duck friends are gonna have to watch their mouth around me, cuz I honestly don't think I can control myself if they start leading with their usual condescending bullsh!t.
