The better the 2023 football team does, the brighter the Beav's athletic future generally. That is, if we actually take the 2023 PAC championship or even make the Div 1 national playoffs, we're going to be A LOT more appealing to a lot of potential conferences....
So let's pull even harder than ever for Jonathan Smith and our 2023 Beav footballers.....the future of OSU athletics may well depend, at least in part, on JS' success this season.

If we get into the playoffs, I strongly believe we get a lifeline somewhere. It would be ridiculous if it didn't happen. Now, we uh, just need to get into the playoffs. We drop down to a MW level, there are a certain class of athlete that will no longer consider us. That is why I believe it is so vital to exhaust all efforts , even if it proves futile. If it is no use, then you root for chaos for the whole system. That may not be that far fetched |

I agree with the above.
I'm also a bit concerned with the distraction. No matter what Smith says, this is a HUGE distraction......and these are kids. Just pisses me off even more based on where we are as a program. We shouldn't have this f%#*ing distraction right now!

Some seem to forget... this isn't about football success. Especially over a 3 year span. It was plainly stated back in 1995: "Make no mistake. The Nielsen Poll is just as important as the Associated Press poll in the big-dollar world of big-time college athletics." This is nothing new. If the old SWC could split up/disappear after 81 years... last game in 1995... the Pac12 could/did. OSU really brings nothing to the table on it's own as far as an overall ratings boon for any conference. Especially one where they have no natural rival. |
