Inquiring about possibilities. I posted a few days ago that Barnes it appeared wasn't ready if something happened to the deal. It was reported that they had went over scenarios just in case. Although from the above it appears that they thought about scenarios but didn't inquire about them. That really put OS in a major scrambling situation. That was my concern a few days ago. My guess is the report on OS and the Big 12(a few days ago) was the result of OS inquiring about the possibility of joining the conference. Maybe they would be in the same situation but at least they would be further along in the process. As in eliminating the non possibilities.

Well they would be in the same spot but would be a lot closer in deciding what to do

My biggest curiosity is what type of war chest do the remaining four teams get and is there any exit fee for the ones leaving, there is potentially a lot of money, at least for one year coming to the 4 remaining teams.
Also, the teams leaving should AT LEAST pay their share of the 50 million owed to comcast.
Grab SDSU, UNLV, SMU, and Fresno State and lets see if Apple will still bet on a Pac-8. Lower the guaranteed money to 15-20 million per team, but keep the big upside.

Also... Does Stanford, Cal, OSU and WSU now own the entirety of the Pac-12 network and all of it's assets? That is certainly not nothing... Seems like that would also appeal to AppleTV, not only do you get the content, but you get all the equipment and folks who know how to use it. All they have to do is host, stream and market it

I would assume that all of the Pac 12 teams would have to pay their share of the $50 million as they were in the conference when that happened. The issue with just grabbing MWC teams is that they have exit fees ($34 Million per school) if they leave prior the start of the 2025 season. So, you would need to pick up at least two teams outside of the MWC for the 2024 season if you didn't want to pay those exit fees or you'd need to come to terms to merge the entire MWC with the remaining PAC 4 to avoid the exit fees.

Normally a school would be on the hook to pay their share if Comcast but they aren't apparently getting a share of ncaa payouts according to articles on the subject. So more than likely they don't have to pay a portion of it.

If almost half of the Mountain west is coming to the PacWest, then I am guessing those exit fees are more negotiable, as half of the members leaving would still be voting members before they left. SDSU couldn't negotiate because it was just them. If it is SDSU, UNLV, CSU, and Fresno all leaving, maybe the mountain west cuts them a deal... If there really is a 400million dollar war chest that the Pac still has, that can go towards buying exit fees

There's a lot of value there. If the Pac became desperate, I suppose there is always that last option to produce their own games and sell it direct to the consumer. Let me make it clear: I would not advocate this as a preferred choice, only one if there was no other option.

Conclusion was is the Pac 12 Networks subcontracts out a lot of that mobile equipment. So not a direct asset of the conference.
