I admit up front that I don't get as deeply involved in the inner workings of college football as many of you when it comes to conference realignments , transfer portals , etc so if my question sounds ludicrous or stupid please forgive me .
My question is ...Could the remaining Pac 4 schools offer themselves up to the Big ten or Big 12 ? As in reaching out to them and saying , we know when we have been whipped but we want to join up , become part of your conference . Is that a feasible option or do those conferences have to first invite the remaining four in . I would prefer to see our conference restructured , new schools added , lessons learned and the new conference ran in such a way that it becomes a success and stays a success financially and otherwise , maybe even rival the Big ten and Big 12 . I know that is a pipe dream but whatever
Anyway back to my original question , is it possible or realistic to think that Larry Scott could call up the Big Ten , Big 12 or even another conference and say we want to join you ?

Doubt if Larry Scott would have the power. He already caused issues that lead to what happened

You offer your self up is fair enough and likely all ready done. Analogy: Asking out of the cheerleaders in your high school days to the prom does not mean she will go out with you. And having your Dad ask her for you is likely not to make a difference either. Btw, George K. not Larry Scott as commish.

It isn't about athletics. If it were, we'd have a home.
OSU and WSU don't bring many eyeballs to the TV. We have, sadly, been living off of the big boys in the PAC ever since media deals became the main source of income for athletic departments.
Why on earth would the b10 or b12 want to give themselves a smaller cut of the pie by inviting OSU or WSU to the table? Because athletics? It isn't now, never gonna be again, and hasn't been for a long time about the athletics or the students. It's about money. It's about vviewership.
Do you really think the NCAA gives a flying f@ck who wins the national championship? They don't. They used to decide it with a damn vote. Then, somebody came a long and said, "vote for the best 2, and have a real championship. We will make money hand over fist. " That became four and will be 12 in a few years.
They aren't doing it for the love of the game or to protect the "Student-Athlete." Everything they do now is because of money. And that's fair. Just wish they would be more transparent.
College football is minor league professional football now, has been for a while. They are still trying to hide it, but that can't last forever. This isn't the end, either. 15 years from now, there will be 20-30 elite football schools that break from the NCAA and form their own league. Massive amounts of money will make that happen. Nobody wants the USFL or the XFL, but millions watch college football. And they will continue to do so. All that's needed to make that jump is to keep distancing yourself from the rest of the sports. Little by little, year by year, until everybody just accepts it as the only logical solution.
I'm not doom and gloom, either. Just my realistic opinion.

Concerning this paragraph, I think you are right that they are moving to make college football a semi pro system under the guise of network contracts. Now that tradition and rivalry has been abandoned, it won’t take 15 years. Five maybe.

The other eight teams left $420 million behind. The Pac-4 can be great, if they add a couple of teams and get a decent media deal.

What is George K. going to do differently in getting that media deal? I am ready for a new pac commissioner and many here continue to give the guy a free pass.

Larry Scott was not perfect, but trying to make that change in Summer of 2021 and who the Presidents chose to replace Larry Scott helped to create the current situation. It might have been a genius change. But it was timed terribly. But it wasn't a genius change, especially the timing.
