I am going to hazard to guess undisclosed arm injury, which appeared to be bothering him in Baton Rouge.

Saw him at the Eugene airport, maybe in early June. He was carrying a backpack with two baseball gloves attached. As a guess he was going somewhere to play baseball.

To answer my own question, Ben Ferrer signed to pay with the Glacier Range Riders based out of Kalispell, Montana. The Pioneer League is one of four MLB Partner Leagues. Jake Mulholland pitches for the Ogden Raptors in the same league. The Raptors were in the playoffs last year but were eliminated by the eventual champion, the Grand Junction Jackalopes. This is Mully's second year in Ogden after stints in New Jersey and Lancaster. Ogden won the South Division First Half Title and has already clinched a spot in the South Division Playoff. I can't tell how the playoff is supposed to be determined in the North Division. Glacier is currently either up nine games on Ogden or down four, depending on how tiebreakers are decided between the Halves of the season. |

Winnipeg is in the cellar, 3.5 games behind Fargo-Moorhead and Lincoln. Verburg has been starting for Sioux City all year. Sioux City's ace this year started out being Solomon Bates. Bates was USC's Sunday starter in 2018. Bates holds the distinction of being the only starter to outduel Kevin Abel in 2018. Verburg started out as Sioux City's second starter but has outpitched Bates on the year. |

Glacier Range Riders finished 10 games back of Billings and missed the postseason. Ogden played in the Pioneer League North Division Championship Series against the Rocky Mountain (Colorado Springs) Vibes. In true Mully fashion, Rocky Mountain won the first game 9-0 in Colorado Springs. Mully started Game Two against Zach Ottinger, who was on the West Virginia team who came to Corvallis in 2019 but did not pitch. Mully out-deuled Ottinger, scattering six hits over six innings with six strikeouts, in a win or go home 9-4 win over Rocky Mountain. Ogden won the series and just won the first game in Championship Series yesterday against Billings in Ogden. The Pioneer League Championship Series will continue in Billings tomorrow and Tuesday, if necessary. |

Sioux City went to the West Division Semifinals and beat Fargo-Moorhead. Verburg started the second game, a 2-0 win. Verburg threw six strong, allowing two hits, and striking out four. Verburg threw game two of the West Division Championship Series, a 5-0 loss. Verburg allowed all five but only three were earned. Verburg game up two home runs to one player but otherwise pitched to one above the minimum into the sixth. Verburg continued to roll through out #16 but then gave up a double and two walks. The following pitcher allowed all three runs to score, two on an error for the five. Kansas City won the third game, advancing to the Championship Series. |

I was surprised to see that he is playing for the Yolo HighWheelers. I hope to see him since they play at the UC Davis field. Tanner Smith is also on their roster.

The Oakland Ballers and Yolo High Wheelers are the two new expansion teams in the Pioneer League. The pair give the Pioneer League 12 teams and two teams in California. All of the other teams are at least two states away. The pitching coach at Yolo is Jerome Williams. Williams played in 11 of 14 years in the Majors and was known for the pink glove that he often wore to honor his mother. He was primarily a starter for his first five years. He spent two years out of the MLB and a third in Taiwan before returning to the Majors in 2011 and playing the final six years primarily as a long reliever and spot starter. Including his one year in Taiwan and a final year in Mexico, Williams played professional baseball for 20 years, 1999-2018. He has coached since. |
