If anybody else is having issues with Elon Musk's moneypit formerly known as Twitter not loading up properly, it's Oregon State, Oklahoma State, Michigan and Arkansas on Feb 23-25.
That's a solid lineup. Better than 3 vs Coppin State.

- We need early easy wins to get us off to a good record
- Really, Arkansas?
Just kidding...mostly...should be a great early season tourney.

Can I possibly talk the wife into going to both Surprise AND Arlington??? The old PA is going to have to work some magic on this one!

Just kidding...mostly...should be a great early season tourney. Literally anything is better than Coppin State RPI-wise. Coppin State is Oregon State's worst-rated RPI opponent since Grambling in 2015. It sucks that it has to be that way, but it is.

Oregon State versus: Arkansas 3-3 Arkansas beat Oregon State 4-3 in the opener of the 1986 Stillwater Regional, but Oregon State beat 1-0 in the rematch to eliminate Arkansas. Oregon State was eliminated by Stanford in the semifinal. Arkansas beat Oregon State 5-4 in the 1995 Spartan Classic in San Jose. Then, there was the 2018 Championship Series.
Michigan 4-0 Oregon State beat Michigan twice at the 2002 California-Riverside Tournament: 10-4 and 13-2. Oregon State then swept Michigan in the 2007 Corvallis Super Regional: 1-0 and 8-2.
Oklahoma State 3-6 Oklahoma State won 5-4 and 12-1 in the 1991 Louisiana Baseball Classic in Lafayette, Louisiana. Oregon State beat Oklahoma State 1-0 at the 1999 San Diego Classic at San Diego State. Oregon State beat Oklahoma State 4-0 at the 2003 Coca-Cola Classic in Surprise. Oklahoma State defeated Oregon State 7-5 in the 2009 Palm Springs Tournament. Oregon State defeated Oklahoma State 5-3 in the 2015 Pac-12/Big 12 Tournament in Surprise. Oklahoma State then came to Oregon State in 2019 and swept Oregon State 1-0, 5-2, and 8-7. The games were the final three regular season nonconference losses for Adley Rutschman and Company, part of a seven-game non-conference losing streak over a six-week period in 2019. Oregon State was supposed to travel to Stillwater to play Oklahoma State in May the following season, but those three games were wiped out by COVID-19.
Oregon State owes Oklahoma State after the 2019 sweep in Corvallis, but expect Arkansas and Michigan to try and end the Oregon State winning streaks.

Western Carolina was no juggernaut either. Western Carolina was still better than Minnesota, Nevada, and New Mexico, though. And Oregon State only went 3-2 against those three teams. Oregon State should have played Santa Barbara twice, and New Mexico once. Despite the schedule, it was still there, if Oregon State just could have defeated Arizona in Scottsdale. The draw was still awful, though. Sending Oregon State to Baton Rouge was a huge slap in the face.

I'll give you Nevada. But Minnesota and New Mexico haven't been better than Western Carolina since 2019. What is galling is you look at the six-team MLB Desert Invitational played at Brazell Field at GCU Ballpark, Salt River Fields (Diamondbacks and Rockies Spring Training), and Sloan Park (Cubs Spring Training). The six teams were Arizona, Fresno, Grand Canyon, Michigan, Michigan State, and Tennessee. Oregon State played RPI 243, 210, 243, and 56, average RPI 188. All of the teams that played in the MLB Desert Invitational had an RPI better than 188. Look at Arizona. The Wildcats played Tennessee, Fresno State, Michigan State, and UC San Diego, RPIs 12, 177, 70, and 82, average RPI 85. Oregon State basically started 1-3 for RPI purposes: a win, a loss, and two wins that count as losses. Arizona, on the other hand started 3-1 that actually counted as 3-1.
