One week left in the Cape Cod League's regular season. The top eight teams make the postseason. Chatham and Wareham are the two teams on the outside looking in at this point. Chatham (Aiden Jimenez) is four games back of Brewster and Wareham is 5.5 games back of Bourne. Cotuit, Hyannis (Elijah Hainline), and Yarmouth-Dennis have each clinched a spot in the playoffs. Falmouth (Bazzana and Turley) is six games up on Wareham with a magic number of two. The Falmouth and Wareham games are each tied at the moment. Chatham is now 4.5 games back of Brewster, and Wareham is now 4.5 games back of Bourne. Orleans clinched, joining Cotuit, Hyannis, and Yarmouth-Dennis. Falmouth is five games up on Wareham but still has a magic number of two. Falmouth is looking to half its magic number. Bazzana was plunked to move the leadoff hitter over. The leadoff hitter scored on a flyball and wild pitch. Turley hit a two-out base hit to drive in Bazzana from second. 2-0 Falmouth in the fourth. Wareham plays Hyannis. Chatham is supposed to kickoff any time against Orleans in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader.

Beaver power on the Cape:
"The finest game I've ever seen a player have on the Cape" BA commenting on Bazz's 6 for 7 hitting exhibition.
"Once Turley modified his approach and got comfortable, he has shown why he is a 5-tool prospect and was so highly rated as a high school player" ditto

If there is a tiebreaker, Chatham is already eliminated, so what follows is if there is a playoff between Brewster and Chatham: Chatham has closed on Brewster, and is now two games back with two to play, and Brewster plays at Chatham this afternoon. Brewster clinches and Chatham is eliminated with anything other than a Chatham win. The final games are Brewster hosting Harwich, and Chatham playing at Orleans. Cotuit, Hyannis, Yarmouth-Dennis, Falmouth, Orleans, Bourne, and Harwich have all clinched. For seeding, Cotuit has clinched the best record in the Cape Cod League. Yarmouth-Dennis is a half-game up on Orleans atop the East Division. Other than Brewster and Chatham, there are no other seeding issues in the East Division left to be resolved. Bourne is locked in to finish fourth in the West. Hyannis is currently a game up on Falmouth for the second spot in the West Division. Hyannis hosts cellar-dwelling Wareham in a couple of minutes, and Falmouth travels to Harwich later this afternoon. Hyannis then travels to Bourne, and Falmouth hosts Cape Cod League-leading Cotuit to finish the regular season. Hyannis has the tiebreaker over Falmouth.

Bazzana slashed .667/.739/1.167 for a 1.906 OPS. In 22 plate appearances, Bazzana tallied four walks, three doubles, two homers, and nine RBI. Bazzana had at least two hits in each game that he played in. In Falmouth's 27-2 win against Cotuit, Bazzana went 6/7 with six runs, two doubles, two homers, eight RBI, and a stolen base. First player ever to have six runs scored, six hits, and eight RBI in the same game.

If his phone rings it’s probably LSU with a couple million dollars LSU got two Alabama pitchers, a Xavier pitcher, and a South Carolina infielder. The Tigers also got Gage Jump, who was UCLA's Sunday starter in 2022 before getting TJ surgery. Lefty. #7 LHP in the nation out of high school in 2021. And the Tigers got Mac Bingham, who was Arizona's starting centerfielder and leadoff hitter. The transfer portal is closed, Thank God! I believe that Bazzana would have to graduate between now and December to transfer out.

Our boy Bazz is looking at $8-10m next July. He has no incentive to disrupt a great career at OSU.
Bazz is a Beaver through and through and packing up for chump change in Baton Rouge is pure folly.
Besides, he's busy coaching up Turley on the Cape and mentoring our young Beavs back home.
LSU? Meh!

Apparently, there is a tiebreaker and Chatham was already eliminated, making the first two paragraphs above a complete waste. Chatham still showed some fight and defeated Brewster. But Aiden Jimenez and Chatham are done after their trip to Orleans today. Orleans sits atop the East Division. So, Chatham can still potentially play spoiler by beating Orleans. Coupled with a Yarmouth-Dennis win over cellar-dwelling Wareham, that would give Yarmouth-Dennis the East Division Crown. Hyannis beat Wareham, and Harwich beat Falmouth to lock in all seeds in the West Division: 1. Cotuit 2. Hyannis (Hainline) 3. Falmouth (Bazzana & Turley) 4. Bourne If the playoffs are anything like last year, the schedule will probably be: Friday Falmouth @ Hyannis
Saturday Hyannis @ Falmouth Sunday Falmouth @ Hyannis
The Falmouth-Hyannis winner is locked in to playing the Bourne-Cotuit winner in the West Division Championship Game, beginning on Monday. The Championship Series against the East Division Champion is set to start in eight days.
