Lais was eager to play pro ball and gets his wish. I'm excited about his future - big frame, live arm, more velo to be tapped and good spin. I think the Padres have a good prospect here.
With Wilson and Lais signing, our class is now reduced to 7 (or possibly 8) pitchers plus the four transfers (Montgomery, Reynolds, Oakes, and Scott). In the 2024 class we have 9 (possibly 10) pitchers pledged and again, will likely lose 1 or 2 in the draft.. Our Coaching Staff has made allowances and is fully prepared to deal with losing OSU committed pitchers to professional baseball.
You cannot hope to be an elite college program without recruiting at the highest level and that means you are going to lose a few to the pros along the way. Call it the "price of winning".

Including the cents? What field are you in? MLB has said that Kane has signed but no one has officially disclosed for how much yet. Having said that, someone on the Board has said that Kane signed for $150,000. Based upon social media, I believe that Brown has signed, as well, but nothing has been announced. I have not heard anything about Uiagalelei, since Thursday, which is probably good news. I think that the Dodgers are probably waiting to see how Oregon State's nonconference games go. Just to follow up, Kane signed for $150,000. The Rangers look out of luck with Palmer, unless Palmer jumps at $260,000 or less. The Dodgers, so far, look like they have saved up $356,400, which means that they could dump $505,000 or so on any signing in Rounds 11-20, if someone wanted to jump at that. The Dodgers, also so far, have an additional $287,765 that they could dump on a signee, if the Dodgers wanted to dip into their 75% tax money. That means that they could realistically offer signees in Rounds 11-20 about $790,000, without breaking the bank. With Green and Uiagalelei down there in picks 19 and 20, I would still love another signee start eating up some of the Dodgers' slot money. Less than 86 hours left before the unofficial signing window closes. (I believe that the signing window is different for players, who have graduated or will graduate by June of next year.) I don't know where to post on this stuff, but Spencer Green signed with the Dodgers for $150,000. D.J. Uiagelelei did not. Having said that, I believe that the Dodgers have at least until the first three games to sign Uiagelelei, because he graduated from Clemson. After that, it gets murkier as to whether or not they can sign him. Just crunching numbers, I believe that the Dodgers went over their pool money. However, they still have still have $147,830 in 75% tax space. So, they have about $295,000 or thereabouts to sign somebody without getting forfeiting their 2024 First Round draft pick.

A good option for Spencer, his alternative was Junior College which would not have challenged his considerable pitching skills like maybe Complex League or A ball will.
A good prospect that never struck a balance between the classroom and Diamond.
