Not above my expectations, he was selected where he should have been. The Pirates recognized the value and jumped on it.
Really happy for the Donkey, he's been a model for Beaver Baseball.

This is the second year in a row that Oregon State has had a player taken #73 overall. Justin Boyd was selected #73 overall last year. Last year, there were 80 picks in the first two rounds. This year, there were only 70 picks in the first two rounds. So, last year, Forrester would have been a First Day pick.
Forrester is the first infielder to be selected this high since Beau Philip in 2019 and the first corner infielder to be selected this high since Jim Wilson in 1982.
And all that is to say, great for Forrester! I did not think that he would be that close to the Second Round.

My post in response to your post five days ago: I would add that I still think that his best bet is to land on a heavy analytics club, maybe one with a pitcher-friendly ballpark. Ultimately, I do not see Forrester going in the First or Second Round, but I could easily see his name called in the Third or Fourth. I would be surprised, if he lasted until the Fifth. Pretty much 4/4 in that post.

Also drafted by same team as LSU pitcher no? The Pirates have made 11 selections, nine on pitchers. The only selections that the Pirates have made on offense are Mitch Jebb, a shortstop from Michigan State, and Forrester. Five of the Pirates' first nine picks were on SEC pitchers.
