Sports I follow during the summer:
Wimbledon
Tour de France
F1
Throw in a little Storm, Mariners, Sounders, USMNT (CONCACAF Gold Cup right now), USWNT (World Cup starting soon), Track/Field (US Champ. coming up this weekend, + Worlds + Diamond League) and there’s plenty to watch.

My sports lull has always been Feb/March between NFL and MLB seasons.
Beaver baseball doesn't feel like it really heats up until mid-March.

Team USA is already through to the Knockout Stage.
Groups C and D wrap up tomorrow.
Team USA plays the second-place team from Group D. Currently that is Guatemala.
Team USA plays on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. PT.

Changes day by day. Some days, I’m jonsing for a Beaver fix. Other days, I’m grateful for a break.
If tv would more reliably carry the Ms, I’d watch pro baseball. I love getting into World Cup because it is pretty well covered.

Ah, but you’ve gotta have the right provider to be able to get Root. And maybe (I don’t know for a fact, but it wouldn’t surprise me) sign up for a sports package. Essentially, ANY sport is reliable if you want to go those lengths. Heck, I watch each day of each sumo tournament. I guess I probably just don’t care enough. You made your point, in a roundabout way. |

Team USA plays on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. PT. Canada won by two goals and Guatemala came back from a 2-1 deficit to win, so both teams advance. Guatemala gets Jamaica in the first game of a doubleheader in Cincinnati on Sunday, and Team USA plays Team Canada in the second. With a win, Team USA gets the winner of Teams Panama and Qatar in the Semifinal in San Diego a week from today. The winner of that will play the Costa Rica-Guatemala-Jamaica-Mexico winner on the other side in Inglewood next Sunday. |

As much as I enjoy MLB and MLS, and whatever else may occur during the summer involving professional athletes, its nice to enter a weekend without fretting the thought of, "I hope the Beavers can take care of business and beat X". Makes for better Fridays and Mondays.
