June 22, 2006 Oregon State 2 - Rice 0
After throwing their second-best pitcher in game one, the Owls threw their ace, Eddie Degerman, an All-American and Fourth Round pick. Degerman had only lost one game all year and that was against Brad Lincoln's Houston team. Lincoln wound up winning the ABCA Player of the Year, the Conference USA Player of the Year, unanimous All-Ameircan, and winner of the Dick Howser Trophy and Brooks Wallace Award. Degerman mowed down the first three Beavers.
Dallas Buck should have been back and ready to pitch. But Buck was throwing through an injury and needed more time. Instead of Buck, Casey and Company trotted out Jonah Nickerson to throw three days after Nickerson threw 114 pitches. Nickerson matched Degerman by mowing down the first three Owls. Nickerson would only pitch to three batters more than the minimum into the seventh.
Bill Rowe doubled down the rightfield line on an 0-2 pitch. Tyler Graham stuck out looking. However, Rowe advanced to third on a wild pitch. Mitchy Slick plated Rowe on a sac fly to left. Degerman would retire seven of the next nine hitters, cruising into the fifth.
In the fifth, Chris Kunda led off with a base hit down the leftfield line. Shea McFeely did the same. The leftfielder tried to get Kunda, but Kunda made it to third and McFeely moved up to second on the throw. Scott Santschi struck out swinging. Darwin Barney walked the bases full with one out. John Wallace hit a ball off Degerman to third. The third baseman was able to recover to throw out Wallace, but Kunda scored. 2-0 Oregon State. Degerman was hurt and had to come out. He was replaced by an even better pitcher, Bryce Cox, a Third Round pick. Cox would throw a no-hit final 4.1 innings with only an HBP of Rowe to mar a perfect final 4.1 innings.
Nickerson struck out the cleanup hitter in the seventh, but Joe Savery doubled down the rightfield line. Nickerson got the next hitter to fly out to right, but Savery moved over to third. Nickerson got the final batter to fly out to left on his 104th pitch. Nickerson got the first two batters in the eighth on five pitches to bring his total to 109. Kevin Gunderson relieved Jonah Nickerson and pitched a perfect 1.1 to end the game. 2-0 Oregon State. The Beavers became the first team to win four consecutive games in four consecutive days at the College World Series since 1971. No team has turned the trick since.

June 22nd was the second of two consecutive days off for 2007 Oregon State. 2006 and 2007 is only the second time in the College World Series history that two teams played each other in consecutive years. The only other instance was USC beating Arizona State in consecutive years back in 1972 and 1973 before the Devils joined the conference.
