Leading American League catcher by 250,000 votes. First of many Alright. Only the top vote getter in each league gets to actually play in the All-Star Game. And Adley finished 12th in overall voting. Shohei Ohtani, the AL's leading vote-getter, was the only player that was selected to play for the AL in the All-Star Game and Ronald Acuña was the only player selected to play for the NL in the All-Star Game. Adley Rutschman defeated Jonah Heim 460,496 to 320,028 in a race that was not really very close. The player who received the fifth-most votes for catcher, Martin Maldonado, was closer to Heim than Heim was to Rutschman. However, all those votes get thrown out, and it is Mano a Mano between Rutschman and Heim for the AL Catcher spot. So, vote early and often, and Vote Rutschman! Go Beavs!

I would note that:
Aaron Judge played at Fresno State.
Sean Murphy played at Wright State.
Marcus Semien played at California.
If that helps with voting at all.

Well, voting has concluded, so I hope that y'all voted as opposed to falling down a rabbit hole about eggs. Last I heard, Rutschman was losing to the Rangers' Jonah Heim in the closest race for any spot on the All-Star roster. He had closed four points on Heim from the previous day. So, hopefully, he eliminated the last four percentage points and nabbed the starting spot. I would note that the Rangers fans were killing it on voting and look like they may get four starters this year. F#*king Rangers! Just the worst in every sport.

Just call it a GD popularity contest. Adley easily wins the first round and now by encouraging ballot stuffing he may lose to a less deserving player. Good reason to take the voting away from the fans. To paraphrase Winston Churchill “ the best argument against democracy is a 5 minute conversation with the average voter “

Heim and Rutschman are head and shoulders ahead of all other catchers in the AL. Rutschman is definitely a better hitter, but Heim is probably better defensively. It should be close. Hopefully, Rutschman pulls it out.

The closest vote outside of the outfielders, and it might be the closest vote of all players, since I do not think that they have released all of the outfield voting yet. Jonah Heim was going to play for Michigan State, but went pro instead after getting picked in the Fourth Round of the 2013 draft. Ben Wetzler went 22 picks later (of course, Ben didn't sign), and Matt Boyd went 24 picks after that.

Good reason to take the voting away from the fans. To paraphrase Winston Churchill “ the best argument against democracy is a 5 minute conversation with the average voter “ The fans pay $50 or more for a decent ticket, $20 for a beer, $10 for a hot dog, $20 or more for parking, etc. Letting them vote for free for the players they want to see in a meaningless exhibition isn't such a bad thing.
