June 20, 2005 Baylor 4 - Oregon State 3
Dallas Buck started and retired six of the first eight batters. Baylor's starter had control problems and walked Cole Gillespie on four pitches. Shea McFeely drew a walk, and Danny Anderson drew a third straight walk on four straight pitches. Mitchy slick hit a ground ball to third. Kevin Russo fielded it cleanly and the throw to the catcher beat Gillespie to the plate. Ryan Gipson singled to right to drive in McFeely. Jacoby Ellsbury then walked home Anderson. Baylor pulled their starter and went to the bullpen. Tyler Graham struck out swinging, and Darwin Barney grounded out to third.
Baylor's leadoff hitter singled to center. Buck got the next two batters to flyout to left. Buck then walked the bases full before recovering to induce the final hitter to ground out to short.
Gillespie walked and Anderson singled him to third with two outs, but Mitchy Slick flew out to second.
Russo started the fourth with a base hit up the middle. Gipson, who was not the defensive second baseman that Chris Kunda was, could not come up with a ground ball to second. The eight-hole hitter bunted over the first two runners. The next hitter hit a groundball to short and the second hit a ball into left to tied the game at two, both runs unearned.
Buck got the first two hitters in the fifth, but the third doubled down the leftfield line. Russo then singled through the left side to go up 3-2.
In the bottom of the fifth, Andy Jenkins, Gillespie, and McFeely each singled to tie the game at 3-3 and put runners on the corners. Anderson flew out to left, and Mitchy Slick hit into an inning-ending double-play.
Buck pitched to the first two batters in the sixth before giving way to Kevin Gunderson. Gunderson retired 10 consecutive batters to give Oregon State a chance to win.
Gipson started of the sixth with a double. Ellsbury hit a base hit to center, but Gipson was thrown out at the plate. Graham walked, and Barney loaded the bases after hitting a groundball to short that the shortstop could not handle. Jenkins hit into an inning-ending double-play.
In the seventh, Gillespie, McFeely, and Anderson could not hit a ball out of the infield, being retired in order on four pitches.
In the eighth, Mitchy Slick grounded out to first. Gipson walked on four pitches. Ellsbury hit a ball back to the pitcher, who was able to get Gipson. Graham then flew out to left to end the inning.
Barney, Jenkins, and Gillespie each went down in order in the ninth.
Gunderson threw an almost perfect 3.1 innings, but Casey and Company tried to stretch him to 4.1. The leadoff batter hit an infield single. The second batter bunted him over. The next batter singled through the left side to put runners on the corner. Russo struck out swinging, but the next batter hit a ball through the right side to put Baylor up 4-3. Gunderson got the final batter, down 4-3.
McFeely hit an infield single. Anderson was able to move him over on a groundball to pitcher. Mitchy Slick struck out swinging. Chris Campos pinch hit for Kunda, who had replaced Gipson at second earlier in the inning, and flew out to center to end Oregon State's season.
June 20, 2006 Oregon State 8 - Miami 1
Barney started off the game by working a seven-pitch walk. John Wallace singled through the left side to put two on. Cole Gillespie flew out to left deep enough to move Barney over to third. Bill Rowe then lined out to left to score Barney. Tyler Graham struck-out swinging to end the first.
Mike Stutes got the start. He got Jemile Weeks and Thomas Giles. Jon Jay then hit a line drive down the leftfield line that Gillespie got a great jump on. Gillespie was able to dive and make a sliding catch to end the first. Stutes had an easier second, inducing Danny Valencia to ground out to second, striking out Dennis Raben, and inducing Yonder Alonso to ground out to first.
Scott Santschi led off the third with a double to center. Barney singled through the left side to move Santschi over to third. Santschi scored on a wild pitch, and Barney took second. Wallace singled to right center to put runners on the corners to chase the starter. Gillespie worked went up 3-1 and hit a double down the leftifield line to drive in Barney. Rowe then hit a groundball to first to drive in Wallace. Graham flew out to second, but Mitchy Slick singled up the middle to drive in Gillespie. 5-0 Oregon State after three.
McFeely led off the fourth by hitting the second pitch into the second section of seats in left to put Oregon State up 6-0.
The six runs was more than Stutes would need. Stutes got Giles to foul out to first and struck out Jay. Valencia hit a hard-hit groundball to Barney that Barney was able to bat down and get over to Rowe to end the fourth.
Rowe hit a one-out single to center in the fifth, Graham followed him up with a second single, and Canham doubled to drive in Rowe to make it 7-0.
Stutes had a no-hitter through 4.2 but gave up a two-out HBP and an Eddy Rodriguez base hit to center in the fifth to put two runners on. Stutes was able to recover to strikeout Blake Tekotte to end the fifth. Stutes pitched a great 6.1 innings, only pitching to three batters more than the minimum. However, he kept pitching and gave up a homer to Raben, a single to Alonso, and a single to a pinch hitter. Eddie Kunz came on for Stutes, who left to a standing ovation. Kunz got Rodriguez to flyout to right, and Tekotte to flyout to left to end the seventh. Kunz threw a great inning but was allowed to keep pitching, allowing Giles to double to left. Kevin Gunderson came on for Kunz. Gunderson induced Jay to groundout to second, and Valencia to groundout to third to end the eighth.
Wallace and Gillespie struck-out swinging. But Rowe hit a two-out single to center, and Graham tripled Row home. Canham walked and stole second, but Kunda flew out to center to end the top of the ninth.
Gunderson struck out Raben and Alonso swinging on six pitched. He then induced the final hitter to ground out to second to keep Oregon State's season alive for another day.
June 20, 2007 Oregon State 7 - UC Irvine 1
Daniel Turpen got the start. He gave up five hits in the first 3.2 innings but retired 13 of the next 15 batters and did not allow a runner past first base after the fourth inning. Irvine started Christian Bergman, who spent six years in the Majors, playing for the Rockies and Mariners as part of a 10-year professional career. Oregon State's best chance to score in the first two innings was the first. Mike Lissman hit a two-out single through the left side and moved to second on a balk. However, Mitchy Slick grounded out to short to end the threat.
Lonnie Lechelt flew out to center to start the third, but Hopkins was beaned on an 0-2 count. Joey Wong bunted Hopkins over. Lissman hit a groundball to third, which should have ended the inning, but the third baseman threw to score Hopkins. Mitchy Slick then added another two with a shot to right center. Darwin Barney singled to left and stole second. John Wallace tripled to right to score Barney. 4-0 Oregon State after three.
Irvine had their best inning of the day in the fourth, starting off with a double. The next hitter grounded out to third, but Turpen plunked Bryan Peterson. The next hitter hit into a fielder's choice to put runners on the corners. The following batter hit a ball to right center to score a run, Irvine's final hit of the game. 4-1 into the bottom of the fifth. Dylan Axelrod started the bottom of the fifth. Wong doubled down the leftfield line. Lissman flew out to center to move Wong over. Mitchy Slick grounded out to first, but Barney singled to left to make it 5-1 after five.
Lissman walked to start the seventh, and Mitchy Slick singled up the middle to put runners on the corners. Barney followed that up with an RBI single up the middle to score Lissman. Barney's base hit chased Axelrod, and the reliever retired the side without incident, 6-1 after seven.

Joe Paterson replaced Turpen in the ninth. Paterson got Peterson to fly out to center. Paterson then ended the game by getting the final two batters to ground out to second and fly out to right. 7-1 the final. Oregon State punched its ticket to play the North Carolina-Rice winner the next day. While the Beavs would have two full days of rest, the Heels would only be on one for the Championship Series.
