I recall someone saying they didn't like the appearance of this building.
Native American Longhouse
I think it's a beautiful building. One of the best on campus.

My guess is that the concern was with the prior building...which looked like a metal storage shed. This building is a HUGE improvement.

No, it was a comment about the new building not long after it went up. I remember the old Quonset hut. It was certainly an eyesore. Much like the Navy ROTC building by Goss. Why that war surplus relic hasn't been torn down and replaced with a presentable building is a bit of a mystery.

I recall that post and I believe the person didn't like the fact that the look didn'the fit amonastery the historic brick buildings surrounding it: MU, Weatherford, Moreland. From a political standpoint no way could President Ray move the new Longhouse location off campus when the other cultural centers remain on campus in prominent spots like the Chavez and Asian Cultural centers. I also got the impression that the poster didn'the know what a traditional Longhouse looks like by the critique he made.

Since it likely was a post from the old Pure-Orange board it might be from a poster who didn't make the transition to Benny's House. The fact that it doesn't conform to the excessively rigid, restrictive and nostalgic campus design standards is a giant PLUS as far as I'm concerned.
