Crossed the line one full stride ahead of 3 runners closing fast. If it were 3005 meters she might not have qualified. She had a four-second cushion, even if those three had passed her she still would have qualified by time. flashresults.ncaa.com/Outdoor/2023/026-1_compiled.htmShe ran in the first heat. If she had gotten passed by that group of 3 she’d been sweating out that 2nd heat result. But as you note, she still would have ended up with that last qualifying spot.

I finally watched the last 30 seconds of that heat. Fetherstonhaugh did not look to be laboring. I don't think there was a video board for her to see as she was coming down the stretch. She probably learned a lesson without pain. The lesson is to be more careful and aware of your surroundings. To learn it painfully, she would have had to sweat the second heat or even miss out on the final. But there did not appear to be a fitness problem or little injury that affected her performance.

Finals tomorrow! We get to sleep in... Discus Sat 5:35pm Pacific Jade Whitfield 3kSC Sat 6:24pm Pacific Kaylee, Grace It's hard to imagine Grace beating the Cal Baptist runner. She seems pretty dominant and from what I've seen, she hasn't really been pushed all season and still has the season's best time by a healthy margin. It'd be way cool to see Kaylee and Grace both nabbing top-5 finishes. Anything better than that would be gravy. Go Beavs!!

I'm sure they have a way to manage the pressure, but I sure don't! Jade will probably need close to her PR or better to score - hoping she lands one way past 190'. It appears the Discus will overlap the Steeplechase a little.

Race is underway.
three laps to go Kaylee in third Grace in seventh.
Didn’t show kaylee or grace’s finishes. Grace 6th Kaylee 7th
ND gal blew by Cal Baptist gal who had led the whole race on the backstretch of the final lap. Impressive.

Great to see 5 points scored (?). Northwest runners have difficultly with 90F high humidity it seems.

Jade is up! Scratch It looked like a long throw ?? Jade’s PR is 191-6. that would put her 3rd currently. She needs to record a mark. So far one throw, one foul.

Nice to see her throwing very close to her career best. She qualifies for the final round, which I believe is 3 more throws for the top 10. UO’s van Klinken ha been on fire, breaking the meet record twice already.

If van Klinken was born XY instead of XX, she would be a 6'5 350lb 4.6 40 person. A once in a generation Defensive Tackle.
