Wes Johnson was the Minnesota Twin's Pitching Coach for four years before leaving abruptly for the same position with the LSU Tigers. Considered by many to be the best PC in college ball, Johnson is renowned for his knowledge of performance analytics and the many tools used to develop pitchers. He is praised for his ability to improve mechanics, pitch mixes and pitch execution. Minnesota pitchers and the LSU staff all credit him with vastly improving their game. Paul Skenes said he was the primary reason he went to LSU. Johnson's contract with the Twins paid him $350k/yr - LSU doubled it and he signed a $750k/yr deal to coach pitchers in Baton Rouge. He worked for Jay Johnson for one season. He will be Georgia's new Head Coach next year. * He will stay with LSU through the NCAA tournament.

Johnson goes through more coaches than the ducks do uniforms.
He's one of those lives baseball 24/7/365 type coaches.

Yep... and for better or worse, very similar to how Mark Wasikowski sees his job/career. Several of us warned Beaver faithful about Horton leaving. Mark is a very, very fine coach and recruiter. Bad news, good news... if they win a Super and get tot he CWS he'd be a hot commodity for a high paying SEC gig. However, Pat and others have made it clear they will empty the bank to build and keep the baseball program on the rise!! Mark being a West Coast guy and at Oregon for so long now, I'm not sure there is any other job he'd take?! He'll have the funds for staffing and NIL $. He really is an impressive guy/coach with a super solid background, unfortunately he is the HC for our rival.

Why would Pat Casey help build Oregon baseball?
Oh, you must mean Pat Killedwrestling. Most of us here aren't on a first-name basis with him. Are you friends with Butterstick too?

Despite o having its best season ever? and OSU having a down year, the Beavs still took 3 of 4, two of which in their place.

Well, unfortunately head to head in college baseball doesn't mean much until the postseason. For those OSU fans who constantly just hate on the opposition, Oregon finished strong, OSU not so much. Disparaging Oregon or any other opponent is petty and doesn't make OSU better in doing so. And, "best season ever"?? If they win the Super, yes. Otherwise George won 46 games going into the Super in 2013, 48 games with regional loss, 44 games with regional loss. Before the program fell off the table George had Oregon with pretty much an identical record as OSU 2010-2015. PC with one more regional and a CWS appearance. Agree, like it or not... the facts show Oregon baseball is here to stay and has much better funding possibilities that many here complain about. If you want to stay in the present... Mitch... 8-6 vs Oregon 5-9 37-24 / 16-14 (T 5th) Regional 48-18 / 20-10 (2nd) Super 41-20 / 18-12 (2nd) Regional Mark... 6-8 vs OSU 8-7 39-16 / 20-10 (2nd) Regional 36-25 / 18-12 (4th) Regional 40-20* / 16-14 (6th) Pac12 Tourney Champs, Super*

He really is an impressive guy/coach with a super solid background, unfortunately he is the HC for our rival. I say bring it on. Despite o having its best season ever? and OSU having a down year, the Beavs still took 3 of 4, two of which in their place. I mean Oregon went to the College World Series in 1954. Also, Oregon had a much better regular season in 2012. The Ducks would have won a Pac-12 Championship in 2012, but the Beavs swept them at Goss to end the regular season. Oregon finished with an RPI of five and were given the #5 overall seed. Oregon had to overcome a 5-4 deficit against Austin Peay, scoring a run on a missed tag and a second run off a walk-off E5 to end the game. Oregon was crushing Cal State Fullerton 6-0 before allowing five runs in the fifth. The Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year, Alex Keudell, and closer Jimmie Sherfy then combined to shut down the Titans the rest of the way for a way-too-close 7-5 win. Austin Peay came out of the losers' bracket to beat Cal State Fullerton, and a mostly-rested Oregon crushed a completely gassed Austin Peay 8-1 in the first-ever Eugene Regional Championship Game. In the Super Regional, Kent State entered the game with a 20-game winning streak. In game one, Oregon committed three errors, which led to five unearned runs. Kent State's ace, David Starn took a no-hitter into the fifth, but Oregon was able to work back to 5-4. Keudell threw two too many pitches in the eighth and gave up a double. Sherfy came on and should have ended the inning without incident but the right fielder missed a surefire out in right, which allowed the final two unearned runs to score. Oregon loaded the bases with no one out but could only manage to bring two runners in. The final hitter lined out to center to end the game. 7-6 Kent State. The Golden Flashes ran their winning streak to 21 games. Kent State held a 2-0 lead in game two into the seventh. Oregon then held a one-out rally with a 1B, 1B, BB, 1B, and E1 to plate three. The Oregon bullpen held Kent State from there only allowing a single double in the ninth. Sherfy came on to strike out the final two batters. In game three, Kent State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second. Kent State held onto the lead into the eighth before J.J. Altobelli started off the inning with a base hit to center. The next batter walked, and then both were bunted over. Ryon Healy then hit a one-out single to score two and tie it at 2-2. Brett Thomas killed the rally by hitting a ground ball to third. Sherfy came on in the eighth and struck out his two batters in the eighth. Sherfy started the ninth with a walk. The next batter bunted the leadoff man over to second. The final batter then hit a ball down the leftfield line that the leftfielder, Thomas, completely lost track of. Altobelli on a dead run from short almost caught up with it, but the ball hilariously landed fair out of reach of both Altobelli and Thomas, allowing Kent State to win 3-2 and punch its ticket to its first-ever College World Series.
