Saw this by a poster on kittydroppings and thought it was interesting:
“The Quinn kid that closed out the game for Oregon State played against my nephew here in St. Louis in 8th grade. First time I’ve ever seen a random kid play and be able to tell he could play at the next level. He hit an absolute bomb off my nephew and then threw a guy out at 3rd from deep in right center.
Now he’s throwing 98 for Oregon State in mop up duty because he’s still working on command.”

I was glad to see Quinn get a chance to pitch last night. He’s got great “stuff”, and was able to use it to get out the jam that he got himself in. I’m hoping he’ll be able to figure it in summer ball and be a major part of our bullpen next year.

That's probably a stretch. He has been better in his last two innings since he got shutdown but he's far from a comfortable or reliable option. What he can definitely do is soak up some innings in games that appear in hand. Using Quinn last night kept us from using any other arm. He is currently the bottom of the bullpen so every quality innings you get is money. My guess is Jimenez, Larson, Mieja, Keljo and Hutch will be asked to do some heroics in terms of high leverage situations and extended innings. The two guys that could.probably have a massive impact are Lawson and Lattery. If both of them can pitch near the potential they have shown we get a whole lot of quality innings.

And if any of them can step up like Sellers did last night, we'll be OK.

You never give up on a kid who throws 98. Never.
