His incompetence, intentional or unintentional, did unrepairable harm to the 2017 Beavers. I find it amazing that he is still allowed to umpire at any level of baseball. The NCAA should have drummed him out of the game. Is this something Canham can protest in any way? Especially if Street is behind the plate for a Beaver/LSU game? If the loser of LSU and Oregon State wins the elimination game Sunday morning, Street would be behind the plate Sunday night. I thought that Street did a great job against TCU in 2021. I worry that this is another game potentially involving LSU, though, which is just awful. Maybe he will be better in a night game involving LSU?

Some holier than thou Beaver fans think a series of bad calls a career makes. The guy has been an outstanding umpire for a long time. Long term umpires make lots of bad calls over a career, and like many here have bad days. And, for the record, if he had been so terrible he would no longer be doing NCAA tourney games. But, of course, some on here who have zero knowledge of his overall career, let alone the evaluation process, think they know better. Cuz you know, fans, and comments from other fans are absolutely factual and without bias. Those that actually know and remember the entirety of the game know OSU had multiple opportunities to win that game. But, it doesn't fit the narrative of those who like to save such info up to use later as a preempted excuse for possible failure.

Absolutely beyond belief that the NCAA would be so inanely stupid as to assign Greg Street to ump ANY game involving OSU, and even more so on national TV. Even more incredible that they would assign him to a series where OSU might play LSU.
Really gotta wonder about about the officials setting up these tournaments...inept mouth breathers? or maybe they just don't care? Unreal.

All I remember is that the Beavs spent the whole year practicing discipline at the plate, you know, swinging at strikes and letting balls go by. Then Street moves behind the dish and everything you learned all goddamned year was moot. Tough to change tactics in that environment. Sorry, but that jackwagon should be nowhere near a playoff game. He makes Pac-12 football refs look good. Oh, he just had a bad day........kiss my...........
Go Beavs!!

For all of you Greg Street apologists, I will tell you he has not had a great career nor is he competent. He isn't well respected in either the ACC or the SEC. I'm not sure he can even enter the state of North Carolina. For anyone to to claim to be informed on his career and suggest it has been good is delusional.

What a crock of BS. He's respected by some, despised by some. Never had poor evaluations leading to any suspension or denied NCAA tourney selection based on poor reviews. Umps in multiple major conferences and has done so for years. As a sheriff for many years (not sure if still active) also no major issues of note. But, if course folks like you prob also disparage law enforcement with no real knowledge. The best? With 10+ seasons in MILB and no major issues his move to college finds him regularly employed. No idea what his overall rating is, but good enough that you're a piddling bias fan while he works major college events. So, there's that! Apologist? Nope. Just anti the BS spouted by folks with little or no actual knowledge vs bias and fan hearsay. Such a losers mentality.

I sat about 10 feet from him and was calling the pitches for him as they were hitting the catchers glove when our guy was on the mound...he followed along almost perfectly. He did have a screw up that involved Claunch although I can not remember the details. The guy really shouldn't be in this spot. At best it's a distraction. He career probably can't afford to have him screw us again. He probably knows that.

It sounds like we have a resident authority here on grading umpires. I'm not an authority on anything nor do I profess to be but if you watch the overhead camera clips of the LSU v OSU game in 2017 and think that's a competent umpire, your street cred here is going all to hell.

From what I remember from 2017, Street was a minor league umpire for a period of time before either finding another line of work or being told to do that. In 2017 he was a law enforcement officer somewhere. My son was stationed in Norfolk in 2018 and went to the ACC tournament in Raleigh in part to heckle Street. He said Street glared at him once. But he mostly got feedback from ACC fans saying things like he is the worst umpire they see on a regular basis.

Now rationalize CB Bucknor, and Angel Hernandez. But wait until I get some popcorn, this should be great.

Now rationalize CB Bucknor, and Angel Hernandez. But wait until I get some popcorn, this should be great. You can't be serious...Street was calling strikes that were TEN INCHES off the plate. He has NO BUSINESS umping another LSU-OSU game. You're way off base here, but go enjoy your popcorn... ____________________________ PS -- a postgame Miss St. fan's comment on Street's umping the OSU-LSU game: "Embarrassing to say he's an SEC ump by calling a fastball 10 inches off the plate...a strike. A fastball. Terrible terrible terrible"

I heard that Greg Street hates little kids and dogs. Wrong. He loves street dogs…hates domesticated ones. Also, looks like he loves hot dogs.
