2023 Three Rivers League champion, and defending state 6A champion, the West Linn Lions (25-6) will go for "back-2-back" titles this Saturday at noon in Volcano Stadium (Keizer). Their opponent will be the Metro League champ and the state's number 1 ranked team, the Jesuit Crusaders. (26-5).
West Linn;s battery will be RHP Drew Talavs (OSU '23) and C Ryan Vandenbrink (OSU '24). The Crusaders will counter with the nations number 1 ranked prep pitcher, Noble Meyer. Left handed hitting infielder, Levi Jones (OSU '23) provides power in the Jesuit order.
Two excellent high school teams with a definite Beaver flavor

Looking at the pitch counts on the OSAA website, Talavs hasn't pitched since 5/9. Do you know that he's pitching on Saturday or is something up?

Howard started in the semi-final against Lake O. I assumed Talavs would throw the final but was unaware of an injury. That's too bad, Vandenbrink will have to carry the Beaver banner for the day. But, then there is that booming bat, Levi Jones swinging it for Jesuit.

WL consciously kept Howard below the pitch count cutoff so he can come back on Saturday, that's why he came out when he did, just a couple pitches short of the #.... |
