Oregon State 2024 commit, Dax Whitney is a long, lean (6-4, 192) power arm out of southeast Idaho that has been a varsity pitcher since his freshman year with the Blackfoot High Broncos competing in the High Country 4A Conference. In his 3 years as a varsity hurler, Dax has compiled a 14-3 record allowing 27 earned runs in 107 2/3 innings pitched. He has struck out 189 batters. He plays American Legion baseball in the summers with the Post 56 Bandits. His velo gains are impressive, touching 84 as a freshman, 88 as a Junior and 93 this spring. With his Senior year ahead, a mid 90's range would not be far fetched.
"Dax Whitney (24’ Blackfoot, ID) had an outstanding performance on the mound to start off the West Memorial Day Classic in Surprise, Arizona. He threw six innings, allowing one scratch hit and struck out thirteen batters. Whitney’s fastball registered 90-92 throughout the outing with excellent arm side run. His curveball sat at 78 with a biting 12-6 movement. He also flashed a slider and change up. Advanced arm strength and command was on display."

More on Whitney:
"Whitney took no time to announce his presence to the scouting staff with his standout performance on both sides of the ball at the inaugural 2022 Idaho State Games, where he ran it up consistently in the upper 80's and low 90's, and committing to national powerhouse Oregon State shortly after. The junior lead the Blackfoot staff with an elite 1.03 ERA over his 9 appearances, striking out 91 batters while allowing only 15 walks on the year, with his fastball now running up into the 90's on a colder night during the Bucks Bag Spring Break Tournament. Whitney will be the lone Idaho representative at the Prep Baseball Report ProCase event, but will hold his own and then some against the top potential MLB Draft Prospects from around the West Region."
