RIP ... I have always liked that early song she did "River Deep Mountain High" mentioned in the article that was produced by Phil Spector and featured his trademark "wall of sound" ... apparently it bombed on the charts here in the US but fared better overseas:

Saw Ike and Tina at Gill. I think it was in 1969. If I recall, Three Dog Night also played that night.

Tull and The Doors were in there too... late 60's, early 70's
As were the Rascals in 1970, Spring... April or May I think.
Hall & Oates and Pablo Cruise in the late 70's
Dylan and Petty were both there in 2001 "ish"
Gill was a hopping spot for a time. Downstairs in Horner, they used to have some of the old posters, most not displayed.

Yes. 1985 plus or minus a year Pretty good, coming up with an answer in the heat of the moment. The Doors played at Gill on 11/11/1967, the night of the Giant Killers 3-0 win over USC. Garth Brooks played at Gill in the late 1990s or early 2000s. I did not go. Many of those who did say it's the best concert they have ever seen. Best lineup I ever saw: Dan Fogelberg, Seals & Croft and the Eagles, 7/75. Or Jesse Colin Young, Santana and CSNY, summer of 1974. Or one-man show, Bruce and the E-Street Band, 11/74, in a venue the size of the old CHS gym. Cost me $5. "Born to Run" was done, working title at the time was "Jungleland."
