He needs to read as much about Ted Williams as he can if he wants to learn the process of becoming a great hitter, both physically and mentally. No one studied what it took to be a great hitter, and then did the work to get there, than Teddy Ballgame.

Back in the day, Hoover and San Diego High were the two big city schools that competed with large schools to the north. Other San Diego area schools (smaller enrollments) competed in a different league - Grossmont, Sweetwater, Chula Vista, Kearny, Pt. Loma, Escondido, Coronado and La Jolla. St. Augustine was a small Catholic school that played the rural schools like Julian, San Dieguito, etc.
Today, metro San Diego has more than 3 times that many high schools competing. San Diego is now something like the 8th largest city in the USA.
Teddy Ballgame wouldn't recognize it.

To you native San Diegan's - Helix was Bill Walton's high school, correct? So was it a new high school sometime in the 60's?

Itβs changed a bit since I was born in β58. π
