Carson McEntire, the corner outfielder from Glendale, Arizona's Mountain Ridge HS and is a member of Oregon State's potent 2023 recruiting class. Carson led his 2nd ranked Mountain Lion team to a 24-6 record this spring including a deep playoff run in the AIA Class 6A playoffs. Mountain Ridge defeated Alhambra 4-0 and Mesa-Corona del Sol 10-4, before losing to OSU '24 commit Hustyn Wheeler and Sandra Day O'Connor HS, 2-1 and number 1 ranked Chandler-Hamilton HS, 8-3. In the SDO loss, Hustyn Wheeler drove home the first run, scored the second run, and that was enough for SDO to defeat McEntire and Mountain Ridge. These two Beaver recruits know each other!
Carson is 6-1, 194 and hits the ball hard with pull-side power. He didn't see many fastballs this spring and constantly faced the shift, but in 24 games (he was out for 6 games), he blasted 7 doubles, a triple and 6 home runs. He has good speed and is noted for his strong arm and defensive play. Here are his stats for the spring:
Slash line is .288/ .475/ .684 with 1,160 OPS. He had 99 PA, 73 AB with 21 hits, 26 Runs and 23RBI. He drew 14 BB, was hit 12 times and had 23 K's. He stole 7 bases in 8 attempts. He led his team in HR, OB%, Runs, SB and Fielding %.
Carson is the #5 ranked Player in Arizona and #178 on the Rawlings-Perfect Game Top-500 listing. He is considered to be a Pro Prospect and was routinely scouted last summer while playing for the elite Alpha Prime 23 Travel Team, and this spring at MRHS. Here is a sampling of of his scouting.
“Mountain Ridge outfielder Carson McEntire is likely to end up at Oregon State, and would be a name to watch for 2026, if he does. He homered in Thursday’s game and, once he gets his bat started, he’s got a very good swing path for contact and big power, although he can load too deep and he didn’t pick up spin quite as well as Roch Cholowsky (Hamilton's projected 1st round SS) did. He’s a corner guy rather than a center fielder, which probably further pushes him toward college. He’s the kind of player who can really benefit from going to school, performing at a good program, in a good conference so that more model-heavy teams get a mountain (pun intended) of data on him.”
