A few thoughts on Slugging percentage. SLG is a rate statistic as opposed to RBI and HR which are bulk or counting stats. The more AB's you have, the better (bulkier) they get. SLG measures TB per AB and only improves with more production. Slugging % is a crude measurement but an effective way of measuring power at the pate.
BA treats all base hits equally, i.e. singles count the same as home runs . . . a hit. Slugging % gives each hit a whole number value. MLB quants used advanced formulas to weigh SLG by taking into consideration weather patterns, ballpark dimensions and the hitter's foot speed. Turning singles into doubles and doubles into triples impacts the SLG metric.
Analytical data gleaned from 50 years of MLB game analysis confirms that SLG % correlates well to team run production and the higher a team's SLG, the higher the K rate will be. Pitchers and hitters are getting bigger and stronger which is resulting in more power at bat and harder throwing on the mound, resuting in more K's.
iSLG or isolated slugging percentage is a fave of the Sabermetrics faithful. It removes singles from the power calculation and is focused soley on XBH. It is simply calculated. SLG - BA = IsoSLG
These are the current "ISO" stats for the top 6 Beaver power hitters.
1. Mason Guerra .256 2. Brady Kasper .237 3. Travis Bazzana 236 4. Mikey Kane .194 5. Garrett Forrester .167 6. Micah McDowell .133

It got me to looking around the web. 21st All-time best ISO is Willie Mays at (you guessed it) .256

That is quite a comparison.
Mason's ISO number isn't surprising - 41.2% of his 51 base hits are for extra bases. He has 11 doubles and 10 Homers to date.

Today (Sunday) would be a great day to 'break' any jinx-factor that this discussion has put upon Mason Guerra.
So far in Los Angeles: 9 AB / 1 hit (a single) / 4 SO
