The gambling probe at Iowa and Iowa State have named 26 athletes involved with 75 more non athletes to be named. Knock me over with a feather but didn’t every one see this coming. NCAA and the pro leagues are knee deep in gambling. Be careful what you look for or you might find it

When online gambling was legalized a few years ago it made it extremely easy for unscrupulous types to start profiting from their positions. The Alabama baseball coach had to be butt-stupid to get caught. As someone who considers college basketball and football betting a full-time job for six months a year, I'm positive that a lot of basketball officials are lining their pockets. They are not playing sides but totals. When they bet on the over, teams get into the bonus early. If the bet is going down to the last two minutes or so, you'll see some weird calls to get a team to the ft line. It goes mostly unnoticed because it doesn't affect who wins.

"NCAA rules prohibit athletes, coaches and staff from betting on amateur, collegiate and professional sports in which the NCAA conducts a championship. For example, athletes cannot bet on NFL games even if state laws would legally allow them to do so if they weren't competing under NCAA rules."I don't know that seems rather silly ... I get not betting on collegiate sports if you are directly involved in them but NFL games? I guess they might figure the athletes might be more likely to have connections to some NFL players perhaps so that might be the link who knows ...

The NCAA does not conduct a championship in FBS football.

The NCAA does not conduct a championship in FBS football. But they do at other levels, hence the reason betting on pro football is against the rules.

Never. He's an ass. Better off without him. If that was a criteria there'd be hardly any HOF members. Or in Benny's for that matter! 🍻

Never. He's an ass. Better off without him. And here I thought Cooperstown was about accomplishments on the baseball field, not personality. Who knew?

It’s the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Infamy. You better start removing players then.....starting with Ty Cobb Somebody many moons ago left that responsibility up to the baseball writers. So it’s up to them. I really don’t care that much about it one way or the other. Actually a Hall of Infamy might be very entertaining - and educational.

He is not in Cooperstown due to his conduct while a player. His behavior since then hasn’t been contrite enough to warrant a repeal of that ban in my opinion.

His behavior since then hasn’t been contrite enough to warrant a repeal of that ban in my opinion. I thought his "transgression" occurred while managing not playing. Also, how does a company owned and controlled by Patriots owner Robert Craft be allowed to be invested in the sports betting app WAGR?
