While listening to Parker, he has frequently implied there is some chippyness between the teams and a little smack talk. Sometimes the ump intervenes and issues warning to benches. Seems to be pretty common on anyone we play. Not sure if this is pretty common between other conference foes. Is our team doing more of the chirping or a little of both or do other teams see us as a bully and try to get in our heads? Honestly I’m not sure, but Parker seems to suggest it’s the other team that is usually the instigator.
I started thinking Beaver baseball has to be really frustrating for other teams since they play a different style than most. Beavs see the walk as just as good as a hit and like to run up pitch counts and foul off pitches until the pitcher makes a mistake or strikes us out. We strike out a bunch and have the lowest or near lowest batting average, but our OBP is near the top in the league. We walk so much more than any team, and then steal more than any team. We stress the pitchers and infield. Does that foster the chippyness?
For home games, our fans have made this the most intimidating place to play in the conference and it’s not even close. We are probably more like a SEC ballpark in that regard. If you are used to other lackadaisical fans in most other parks and get hit with the full wrath of the Goss crowd, that might prompt some of the smack talk from their players when they do perform.
thoughts?

I think all of what you've said is true. We're scrappy, we play an annoying, grind out it style of baseball. That kind of team is frustrating to play against. The crowd is part of it, but this stuff happens on the road too. We also run our mouths more than we did under Casey. If Mike is implying it's a one way street, haha, he's wrong.

Who has had more success in the last 20 years? Oregon State has earned a huge bullseye. Plus, the Beavers play a very regimented offense filled with hitters that tend to grind, who mostly can all bunt, and a couple of speedsters. The defense usually glistens with a bunch of wonky garbage ball pitchers, who all seem to be mostly interchangeable. The Bulls were dominant from 1995 to 1998. A large part of that was Jordan and Pippen. But a huge part of what made those Bulls teams special was a complete lunatic like Dennis Rodman, who could get inside the other team's heads and neutralize the next-best big man on the court, get the other team's best big man react and rack up ejections and fouls. All that to free up Jordan and Pippen to score. The other teams seem to be doing their best Rodman impression. Oregon State does not really seem to bite, but the other team's keep trying.

Ben with the wave goodbye seems to have pissed off their dugout.

I would guess if you listened to the other team's announcer, they'd suggest that our team instigates most of the time. Everybody loves to play the "us against the world" card.

Bench Jockeys are as old as the game itself.
Finding an opposing player with "Rabbit Ears" has always been part of the game.
Players that are focused don't hear it or respond to it.
. . . . even if they say'n bad bout jo mama.

The first baseman who went 1-for-5 seemed pretty hacked off.
It's been 16 years since Horton, Butterstick and Killedwrestling said they would make people forget about Oregon State baseball. Hasn't happened yet as we KTA another season.

Was not close enough to see exactly who was doing what after the game but from my vantage point while the Uck coach was talking to someone and holding up the handshake line the OSU assistants just went around him and shook hands with the Uck assistants and proceeded to leave the area...pretty damn funny!

Well....who is the ONLY team to win THREE national championships since 2000?? Answer: The Oregon State Beavers.
That probably tends to frustrate a lot of our opposition!! What else can they do except to become "chippy"?

Imagine being a visiting team, or fan at Goss....then it becomes easy to see why people are chippy with us.
