Not really sure where this should go since it's a general question really.
My understanding is that Huth was head recruiter.
Mostly my knowledge of how recruiting is going is based off of other folks posting on this site so I have a question for you folks.
Next season we had two local recruits coming in (more coming in but are not the usual kinds of recruits). Were we even close on anyone outside of Oregon?
And in the coming recruiting season I can't find any case were OSU is close to getting anyone. Is there any thought of OSU being in the finals with anyone? Yes some have visited, but that's it.
My suspicion is that Huth used UCLA's method of sending offers to bunches of kiddos in the idea that a few are going to bite. But Corvallis isn't LA, and OSU doesn't have UCLA's basketball history.
I wonder if Rueck was looking at two recruiting seasons in row bombing out and decided he really needed to make a change.

A common misnomer is to "blame" the assistant coach in charge of recruiting (recruiting coordinator) for a down turn in signings.
Recruiting is a staff function. And, the HC is the person in charge if making final decisions and the biggest push in final impressions. The entire staff travels to evaluate and collect info. The staff collaborates, discusses, and decides which players to target. Often those that are realistic options.
The coordinator is really the organizational person. They are typically responsible for organizing all coaches’ individual recruiting travel, including all transportation and housing needs. They generally responsible for maintaining and updating recruits’ game schedules throughout the year, especially during the evaluation periods.
They and their assistant(s) create recruiting mailings and graphics. All recruiting visits/hosts for official and unofficial visits are under their purview. Again, a lot of organizing, collecting info.
But, all the coaches evaluate and decide on targets. Each staff member is the contact for a set of recruits. The HC is the "big gun" that makes the key contact/impression.
It's easy to toss a recruiting coordinator under the bus, but they are just a piece of the recruiting process. Jenny may not have been a good fit, but she's not the issue for any recruiting issues.

Two seasons in a row bombing out? I may give you this year, I guess we’ll see although I like the two new guards, but you consider last year a bad year? So I guess Lily, Martha, Adlee, Timea and oh yeah freshman of the year Raegan are a bomb out? Ah, ok. And the year before that was Talia, AJ and Greta who unfortunately left. Our recruiting was been genuinely good, it’s keeping them all here that’s the problem.

This next seasons recruits we get the best and third best from Oregon and no-one outside the state. Three others who could work out very well, but not normal recruits. The season after we have no serious possibilities that I know of. No, I do not consider a recruiting season where they get two top 10 recruits to be a failure.

Big weekend for player evaluations starting Friday. I'll be curious to see if we get any hints on where the coaches are. I expect one or two Beaver coaches will be at the Spring Classic EYBL in Arizona watching the Cal Stars, Tree of Hope, etc.

He was watching Delaney Gibb.
