He showed some serious speed and strength while running with the Gatorade jug. If McDowell could persevere and break through why not Turley? I think he will put it together eventually.

I wonder who he will play for next season. You think he will bail? I'm betting he understands that he stinks at the plate, at this level right now. I'm betting he sticks around, works his tail off, and gets in the lineup next season.

He needs to find a place where he will play 45-50 games and get 150-200 at-bats. That's not going to happen in the Cape Cod League. WCL plays 54 games plus playoffs. They could send him to the Canadian league that helped Micah so much. OSU players get to summer ball later than most, either because of the long spring term, or the NCAA playoffs. If he can get between 35-40 games, that would be great. McDowell played at Okatoks in the Western Canadian League, that team has been coached by Andy Petersen.

Ask the whereabouts of a player who anyone following the games this weekend would have known the answer to. Maybe ten total posts is a clue?
Based on his own words he understands what he needs to work on and improve at, and has a great attitude about it. I thought his patience and pitch selection in ASU series already looked noticeable improved compared to start of conference play AB's.

Yes Turley is hitting horribly in conference. He needs a summer of consistent at bats to figure it out. His potential I believe is very high. BTW.,.I know many feel Dernette is our best option at shortstop, but he is hitting .185 in conference. I’m sure since the beavers are playing well, the coaching staff is hesitant to change it up. Peterson not withstanding. I’m sure if Turley shows improvement in practice,he will get his chance.if you look at my posts earlier this year,I said Turley was having a lot of problems making contact in Fall ball. 2000 plus posts in btw for me.

Frosh lighting up the PAC12 is fairly rare at OSU. Here's the BA of sone of our recent greats their frosh season
Conforto .349 Madrigal .333 Bazanna .306 Harrison .302 Boyd .301 Forrester .299 Griener.240 AR was .234 Kwan .215 Larnach .157
Some guys take time to figure out this level of ball. When your first AB is a massive HR the hype train has a lot of momentum.

Turley is a 5 tool guy. Being and instant star at the Pac-11 level isn’t easy. Once he figures it out,we could really have something special on our hands. I hope we go far in the tournament, and he understands that osu is someplace special.

I hope we go far in the tournament, and he understands that osu is someplace special. I just don't get a sense that he's interested in running off for playing time. The team is working hard to develop him and he must be aware. He has had every chance to lock down a spot and it's just obvious he wasn't quite ready. This staff can develop players as college players and to the MLB, they won't give up on him and I'd be shocked if he left. He certainly looks like he's fitting in and having a good time.

I am quite sure Mitch has a plan for this summer with coaches he trusts to work on specific tools.

I was thrilled to see him using one of his tools so enthusiastically to chase down the heroes with the Gatorade jug! He clearly has not let himself get super down over his play and PT. Hats off to him!

Just not a Dernette fan,but maybe I’m comparing him to all the really good shortstops we have had over the past 20 years.,.Grenier,Barney,Smith,Morrison,SantosArmy,and others.

For as long as I can remember OSU teams have had "no hit" defensive stalwarts that played regularly. And most developed into decent guys at the plate that often provided key hits. I can remember wondering if Chris Kunda would ever hit above .200, but could the kid flash some leather!
