In the 2023 MLB Draft to be held in Seattle this coming July, the Beavers have two roster players and 4 recruits showing up on Baseball America's Mock Draft. The assumption among the writers, is that MLB will conduct another 20 round draft this year. Here is the Beaver recap:
ROSTER:
Garrett Forrester #155 5th Round, 18th pick to the Brewers. Slot $$$ is $392,700
Trent Sellers #324 11th Round, 4th pick to the Tigers. Slot $$$ is None - Negotiate your bonus.
RECRUITS
Paul Wilson #51 2nd Round, 12th pick to the White Sox. Slot $$$ is $1,659,700
Trent Caraway #91 3rd Round, 21st pick to the Mets. Slot $$$ is $777,600
James DeCremer III #284 9th Round, 30th pick to the Astros. Slot $$$ is $172,500
Eric Segura #384 13th Round, 5th pick to the Blue Jays. Slot S$$ is none. Handshakes and Guns!
* A note on Bonus payouts. Slot money is a "guideline" that may be negotiated up or down by MLB clubs. You usually don't see much variance in the first two or three rounds but it gets a little fuzzy after that. When the smoke clears, you will see players signing for above slot and below slot. Player "signability" is a big factor in the draft. Prep and JuCo players along with college sophomores/Juniors have leverage, college seniors do not.
