They say Jackson was number 2 in Arizona. ASU doesn't much care about D or their Pitching. They are there to hit and mash you into submission. In fact they don't look like a very good overall team but if you don't have great Pitching they are never out of a game.

Donkey 0-4 Macias 0-5 Weber 1-5 Two of those are bottom of the order, but Forrester's 0-fer just can't happen when you're batting 2nd in the order. You're in that spot for a reason. I’m OK with Webber, but you can’t afford a DH bating in the 7 hole and go 0-5

Everything is centered around power. Power arms, power hitting.

If my count is right 18 of 37 on their roster are transfers in to the program. That kind of tells the story of how they will operate. They will go find what they want.

There wasn't a second time what? Top of the 7th. Bases loaded. Forrester strikes out. Top of the 9th. Bases loaded. Forrester hits a dribbler to 1b. Unassisted. Two clutch situations. Two goose eggs. Bases were not loaded in the ninth. Ok good. I am afraid that I had missed something........... Whew! Only two on in the ninth. That makes it so much better.

There's home runs and then there are clutch situation home runs. Because Forrester has never hit a clutch home run in his life! Forrester and I had a great laugh at this one. Found one. Back in 2021. Even monkeys fall from trees.

Can't win every time. In this case the ball literally didn't bounce our way. Today will be interesting. Hope we recover quickly from a tough loss.

I remember the strikeout against a fresh reliever. But there was not a second time. McDowell led the team with six men left on base. Forrester scored the third and should have been game-winning seventh runs. You can't fault the offense. This was on the bullpen. Seven runs should be a win almost every single time. There wasn't a second time what? Top of the 7th. Bases loaded. Forrester strikes out. Top of the 9th. Bases loaded. Forrester hits a dribbler to 1b. Unassisted. Two clutch situations. Two goose eggs. Which makes him exactly like every other person who has ever played the game of baseball. Babe Ruth. Lou Gehrig. Ted Williams. Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, Rogers Hornsby, Ty Cobb, yada yada yada. It's absolutely ignorant to expect someone to get a hit in every clutch situation.

The home run saved Oregon State's season and but for a huge choke job the next day should have clinched Oregon State's ticket to a (Eugene?) Super Regional. Forrester is the best first baseman at Oregon State since Harrison, at least. Plays his position well. Gets on base. Grinds. Like did Forrester sleep with your wife or something? I don't understand your profound dislike. It baffles me.

He's the senior player on the team. And it's one game. Even irimi needs to be called out on his bulls%#t.

That's why I didn't listen this weekend, just checked in with the Messi News Service every hour or so for updates. We lost 2 of 3 at ASU in 2007 too. It's a hard place to play and it's not surprising a good ASU team would win the series.

2006? Arizona State came into Goss and swept Oregon State in 2007. We had a tough time with ASU in 2007 until we met the Sun Devils in Omaha. The rumor is Pat Murphy helped us get into the tournament. "Thanks, Murph" Oregon State beat Arizona State 12-4 in Surprise in 2007 in a nonconference game and then got swept at Goss. That win in Surprise probably got the Beavers into the Tournament. A loss probably would have been fatal to Oregon State's chances. Oregon State had upset their pitching rotation to win the Charlottesville Regional and continued that into the Corvallis Super Regional and College World Series. The result was that Oregon State's third starter (Reyes) started against Fullerton and Oregon State's ace, Stutes went against Arizona State. The Devils threw their third starter, Flores, for unknown reasons to go up against the Beavs' ace. Four of the first five Beavs (Hopkins, Barney, Lissman, and Ogata) singled to put Oregon State up 2-0. Stutes mowed down the first four hitters before getting into trouble with an HBP and two singles to cut the lead to 2-1. The Devils pulled Flores in favor of their second starter, Satow. Satow got the first two Beavers and then gave up single, double, walk, and Lissman homer. 6-1. Stutes did not allow a hit into the seventh. Oregon State scored single runs in the next three innings and then tacked on three more, two unearned to go up 12-1. Stutes ran out of gas at the end of six but pitched into the seventh. Once the Devils got into the Beaver bullpen, things started to go sideways. Arizona State scored five runs over the final three innings, but the Beaver bullpen was able to strand runners at the corners in the seventh and the bases loaded in the ninth. Oregon State held on for a 12-6 win. Arizona State "swept" Oregon State in 2007 but later vacated all three of those wins.
