If you’re up early this morning, root for the half Asian boy from PDX in wave 1. He’ll start at 7 and finish before 10.
I honestly can’t believe he’s running Boston during his med program. Crazy over-achiever. Must have gotten that from his mom.

Unlike the Tokyo marathon where he sported Beaver gear for fun, he’s just wearing Brooks gear. Currently on pace for a 2:45 finish, which would be a personal best, I think.

Good for your son. Ive qualified two times but never entered. My running is kind of a joke now. 5 miles in 45 minutes is an effort. Around 2003 or 4 I was trying to get a woman interested in me. I say that because sometimes the medical folks are crazy over achievers. She was running maybe 50 miles a week, getting a PhD in nursing at UW, and still doing one or two shifts a week at a Portland hospital. She was unhappy with her Boston run and I thought it had to do something about averaging 4 hours sleep a night

Tried several times but never qualified but could only muster a 3:23 PR, at Grandma's. For some reason my body always crapped out between 20 and 26.2 miles and my 35:34 10K and 1:21.15 half-marathon PRs never translated to 26.2 miles. Then my body just broke down after about 20 years of 2000 miles per year, so now I'm a walker and swimmer.
Congrats to your son.
