OSU lands Czech Republic wing Dominika Paurova
Her film looks very good, fast, aggressive, athletic a great addition, welcome Dominika! GO BEAVS!

Minnesota's loss is OSU's gain.
Here are a few Dec. 2022 comments from U. Minnesota WBB fans, when it appeared she'd be headed that way:
"Dominika uses size, skill, and a good IQ to impact the game. She showed versatility through her ability to switch seamlessly between perimeter and post play. Showed an understanding of the differences to effectively defend in both areas as well."
"Dominika Paurova made the Honorable Mention Awards list for the All World Cup U19 2021."
"Can't wait until she gets here because we need another scorer besides Braun."

Seems like she will get minutes. Maybe most impressed with her ability to dribble full-speed comfortably with either hand.

Looks like an upgrade to AJ’s spot. Mainly offensively. A lot more offensive skills. Not enough defense in the video to compare.

Looks like an upgrade to AJ’s spot. Mainly offensively. A lot more offensive skills. Not enough defense in the video to compare. Is AJ leaving? I hope not. Based on that video they are very different players. Just looked at some highlights she's got a good eye and a nice set shot. She'll need to get more explosive to operate in the paint in the pac12 which it looks like she does most of her work in the paint. Good backfill for Lex when she's done after this year; utility 3/4 that can hit an open shot and grab some boards. |

I don't see Dom as a replacement for AJ as I can see both of these Gazelles running the court together. Both push the ball quickly, and I imagine AJ will be the recipient of Dom's passes while Shalexxus will be watching from the sidelines. Don't get me wrong, Shalexxus will be getting minutes as she does play defense, and knows the system. Shalexxus does not have the get up and go of Dom, and if Dom can play defense, and can learn the OSU WBB system quickly, Dom looks like a candidate for minutes in her freshman season. This past season there were many times Shalexxus attempted to take the ball to the rim, and it either resulted in a TO, or, a terrible shot. That is one of the observations from watching Dom's video, is she has a great "get to the rim" instinct to go along with her quick first step. Excited to see this one. |

Yes, I was continually surprised by Shalexxus's lack of speed this last season. I get the sense she has never fully recovered from knee surgeries. Hopefully she can get fully healthy this summer. |

However, I really can’t think of many Rueck teams that played fast, so I wonder if Dominika’s speed will be effectively utilized. I recall a certain Australian’s highlights that involved a lot of open-court scoring that didn’t translate much at all in Rueck’s system. That said, Dominika looks like a much more confident finisher/shooter that Simmons ever was. |
