osubeavers.com/news/2023/4/13/womens-track-field-scatena-and-weidinger-highlight-thursdays-actionThere are three different meets this weekend (starting yesterday). Thursday saw some events including Adael Scatena and Taylor Weidinger's great 400H performances. Those two have taken huge leaps of improvement this year. Delaney Bahn and Anneke Moersdorf both did very well in the Heptathlon; however, Anneke apparently scratched in the last event of the day (200m). There was no word on what happened - possibly an injury or false start. Both had PRs in the 100H - Anneke clocked in at 14.18s, which scored her very highly. The article has times and distance for everyone that competed yesterday. A lot is coming up later today and Saturday including the big-name runners Kaylee and Grace - those two have led the way for many (probably by their work ethic). There are some up-and-coming younger runners that I'm anxiously awaiting to see how they do.

Kaylee raced in the 5000m tonight placing 7th at 15:37.46, 11 seconds better than her previous PR. I'm guessing this might qualify her for the NCAA meet (or Regional - not sure how that works). It was just 2 weeks ago that Grace F set the school record at 15:30.22 (the old record was 15:58), so the old record is now obliterated.
She and Grace will be racing in the 1500m tomorrow.
It's been several weeks (or more) since we've seen the following: - Lizzie Hatton - Kate Sorenson - Marie Friedman - Dede Norman - Olivia Johnson - Lara Denbow (not on roster anymore)
A few of them were part of the reason the team was rated so highly for "dual" meets. I might be overlooking others as well.

Grace Fetherstonhaugh runs 4:11.00 and takes third in her heat. Without looking I think that is the school record. Mitchell is up in this heat. I don't think she will run fast as she ran a hard 5000 last night. 4:11 is a 4:29 +/- mile.
Mitchell runs 4:13.48 and takes 9th in the fastest heat.

Who'd have thought just two years ago they'd be where they are now.

If Scatena can get under 59 seconds in the 400H she should score at the Pac-12 meet. I look for some more improvement from all our sprinters/jumpers when it finally warms up. Hopefully this miserable April weather will be gone and we can have a nice weekend for the home meet.
